Oh, when I used to get it, it was different.... It was exactly the same as Purina ONE. Not something I'd feed, now, but something that's ok, and about the best you'll do in a grocery store. That much wheat isn't good for anybody, IMO.

luvntzus- I just looked at my post and it seems a bit mean; I just wanted you to know it wasn't aimed at you, but more so to the author of the site [:)]

That's okay, I didn't think it was aimed at me, but thank you for clarifying!! [:)]

But anyway, I feed Purina One, and my ingredients are a bit different. Im assuming yours is the chicken formula. I feed the Puppy Lamb and Rice. I find those ingredients are a tad bit better, but I think Bailey is past the puppy food

Baileys mom: do you mind if I call you Baileys mom? lol

Here are the ingredients: Lamb, brewers rice (eh) corn gluten meal (eh), oat meal (ok), fish meal (ok) pultry by-product, non-fat yogurt, and animal digest.

If you can only buy grocery store foods, then One is the best you can get there.

Dont worry, I used to feed Beneful to my puppy, and my mom had been feeding Beneful to her Golden!

The bag is really good looking, but you shouldnt go buy how nice the bag is, or what the bag says it contains. On the back there is always a 'the heart shaped kibbles contain this' 'the bone shaped kibble contains this' etc. But you should always look at the actual ingredients.

    Good luck with Bailey!

Thanks. I know I can find Purina one. I love Bailey very very much but, It is more easy to get her food when I am getting mine at the super market. My walmart sells a lot of the purina products and I know I can find that. Lizziecollie, you can call me Bailey's mom or you call me Aimee if you like. Shall I call you Lizzie's mom? She is very cute by the way! How old is she?

Have you checked out the links we posted for you?

Have you checked out the links we posted for you?  Do this:  take your bag... and compare the ingredients to the information on the links Kelly and I posted for you.  Then compare the ingredients for some of the real super premium foods.  Here is the link to Canidae's ingred's for starters:

I did check some of the stuff but, at the moment I am not feeling so great. I have an ear ache. I will check them as soon as I can. I do intend to feed Bailey what we have now and start on something better when she finishes her bags. I can't see wasting all of that food!

They do have easy to read articles and I got blasted here for mentioning their website because they are anti-raw.

Aimee i'm sure it would be "easier" for us all to pick up our dogs food while we were doing our grocery shopping. But to sacrifice my dogs health by feeding whatever is convenient is just not worth it,to me,anyway. Feeding a good food is one of THE most important things you can do for your pooch,a little extra effort in this department will hopefully pay off in years to come when you have a still fit and healthy dog.Think of it as putting oil in your car,it will run much bette, longer and at 100% capacity if you put in a top quality oil, rather than whatevers on sale at the local store, the extra hassle will be worth it in the long run [;)]
There are people in other countries that dont have the massive choice we have, and have no other option but to feed beneful or purina or worse!Dont take furgranted the easy access and options to foods you have available to you.

Yes,maximumm is a step up from Beneful, but you've got many more steps up before you reach the true top of the range foods, why settle for medium grade food when you can feed your dog a top grade one?

Innova,EVO,natures variety plus many more all do a small bites kibble and they are leaps and bounds ahead of purina.

This reminds me of a conversation I had yesterday with a customer. I was in the process of filling her grandsons prescription when we asked if we had long Q-tips. It turns out she wanted them for her dog because the dog is constantly having itchy, smelly ears and she's constantly having to clean them. I asked her what she was feeding and she said Beneful. I told her that Beneful was probably the reason her dog has itchy smelly ears. She's probably allergic to some of the ingredients in it. She had no idea that food could cause problems in dogs. She's constantly taking the dog to the vet and the ear problems keep coming back. I suggested she try a better quality food as that may solve her problems. She then asked for better quality foods and I showed her what to look for and gave her suggestions. She thanked me a million times and was off to Pet Supplies Plus to buy a better quality food. She felt bad not knowing that the dogs food could be causing problems but I told her we don't automatically know which foods are good especially when you have Purina and the like advertising on the telly about how healthy and complete it is. I hope that she does buy a better quality food and I hope that helps with her dogs ears.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how you talk people into buying better or different food without seeming to be too didactic.

    3 cheers for Meilani.

I don't have a pet smart or anything like that around here. There is one VERY HIGH end pet store that I simply can not afford and two pretty disgusting ones that I don't want to help support (one sweeps dead fish under the racks below the fish tanks. I bent down to tie my shoe and saw bunches of dead fish on the floor! The other is a "fly by night place with an owner who has dirty hands constantly...and tried to sell me the wrong stuff just to make money off of me when I did go in there.) Other than that I don't have any pet smart or pet co or anything like that unless I take quite a long drive. I do have a Super Stop And Shop. Do you think I might find better stuff there than I would at walmart?
    • Gold Top Dog
Nope, Walmart sells the same low end kind of stuff.  Try a FEED store...as in hay, oats, kind of place.
    • Gold Top Dog
    No feed stores around here.
    • Gold Top Dog
I bet if you look harder you'll find one.  I live way out in the boonies, 5.5 miles from the nearest VILLAGE, not town, VILLAGE.  Within 20 miles of here are SIX feed stores, and those are just the ones I've SEEN so there are probably more.
