Does YOUR Eagle Pack kibble smell?

    • Gold Top Dog
Can I ask all of you who are feeding Eagle Pack a question?

Do you feed other things with it or just the kibble?  What I'm trying to get at is can I feed only a portion of Eagle and still get that gleaming coat all the Eagle dogs seem to have?

I know Willow won't eat only kibble so not sure it would be worth it.

    Thanks.[:)]

willowchow, We have always had a hard time getting Saber to eat as he is an Epi dog. So he always gets stuff added to his Eagle.
He gleams like the other guys. I have bragged and boasted about Eagle and their customer service ad nauseum. Someone always comes along and slams it because of the corn though. But I say the proof is in the dogs.

I'm switching Jessie to the Royal Canin prescription diet to see if it helps her allergy flare ups but I fed Jessie the kibble with a few spoons of the canned mixed into it; sometimes I fed her the canned for a meal for variety. If Willow likes fish you may want to try the Eagle Pack Fish kibble; many dogs really like it; it does smell like fish so that's probably why they like it. I know she has a very sensitive digestive system but the kibble has digestive enzymes; Jessie has better stools on Eagle than on Nutro or Eukanuba; I'm adding Prozyme to the Royal Canin.

What's neat about the corn they use is that it's herbicide free and comes from farms close to their plant; they actually inspect it in the fields. Geeesh, all this talk about their quality makes it even harder to try the Rx food, sigh.

    Thanks.

Jessie's mom--I've been using a prescription food for over a year now.  First, I used it exclusively but then started adding in other things as she remained stable.  I am very comfortable with it and would recommend it if needed.  It's truly one of my better decisions.  I was worried about it too but it so greatly improved her health and quality of life, how can I argue with that?

I'm going to try some stinky fish kibble, she'll love it!  And, as far as corn is concerned, she's always done fine with it and as long as it's not the only source of protein in a food I've got no issue with it.

I have to say this has been one of the most amuzing posts I've read [sm=lol.gif]  With all the talk of smelling cannisters, bags of food, what does rancid smell like, having DH or BF smell the food too lol

It does make me feel better reading about the CS Eagle Pack gives... I've been looking/learning about different foods and it's reassuring to see so many speak highly of their food and CS.

    willowchow-
For Marley's evening meal I add some Nature's Variety Raw (sometimes lamb, right now he is getting venison) medallions too his kibble...he seems to still have that shiny coat! I get compliments all of the time on how incredibly shiny and black he is![:)]

Willow, I do feed cooked meat mixed with veggies on top of Bubbys kibble,,we do with Ollie also.   I also give her a raw egg each morning on her kibble instead of meat,,and she does get yogurt every meal.  I think it was on the Great Dane Lady website that I read that no dog food is 100% complete,, and to be honest right now I can't find that statement. But I do feel better about adding this to her kibble even though I'm sure she would do just fine without.

Thanks for the encouragement willowchow; I just got back from taking her to the vet for an ear infection and he thinks the Skin Support SS 21 may help too. The Eagle Pack Holistic foods don't have corn; they have oatmeal and whole grain brown rice for the grains but all their grains are herbicide free.

I'm glad you got everything sorted out.

My EP smells - but I feed the Fish & Oatmeal variety and it's distinctly "fishy".  Tux loves it and does a little "happy" dance every time I open that cupboard.  (He really likes fish! *giggling*)

Yes, I have purchased the fish and oatmeal...and it did smell...but I expected it to.   My dog also loved it,,,I just didn't and since she loves it all,,,,,,,,I chose to not have her breath smell,,,YIKES!
