Carob is a chocolate alternative that's safe for dogs. And good for people to eat as well. Wink

ETA: I forgot the 1 1/2 cups of water in the recipe. *shrugs* Not important.. Lol

Here's my homemade treat recipe I cook for my girls and it makes a really big batch.  Really fast and easy to put together & cook.

    LIVER & OAT TREATS

Puree in blender or food processor until smooth Ick! and pour into large bowl:

1 lb. liver (chicken, beef or pork)
    2 eggs

    ADD: 1 c. flour & 3 c. oats.

Mix well untill all dry ingredients are moistened with meat/egg blend.  Spread onto Pam sprayed greased 13x15 cake roll pan.
Bake at 350º for 12-13 minutes.  Allow to cool almost completely.
Cut into small bites with a knife.  They're inclined to stick, so use metal spatula to slide underneath
them to remove from pan.  I freeze them in a gallon Zip-Loc bag and just defrost
a handful at a time in the refrigerator in a smaller Zip-Loc.

The dogs just LOVE these!  Big Smile

I use something very similar to buttonbutt (above), minus the oats. To prevent sticking, use parchment paper.

I've used these treats with LOTS of dogs over the past few years and have never had a dog turn it down.

I've also found that pork liver gives my dog the runs - so i use either beef or chicken.

This recipe is, IMO, a must if you plan to make treats for your dog. I love that I can make them as tiny as I want (for training) and the dog still acts like it's a huge reward.
