My pup Rivers is 18mnths old, Nova Scotia Duck Toller/Shephard mix, his hip bones and his spine are VERY easily felt. His ribs only have a very slight layer of cover, non visible mostly by his hair, but if he gets wet, you can plainly see them.
This dog is not super high energy, but does appear to have a fast metabolism. Aside from the mild stomach bug he just had yesterday, he's the perfect picture of health from energy level right down to the way he's built.
I'm not stressing over the fact that he's thin, he's getting plenty of nutrients, and I actually prefer him on the thin side. These dogs tend to live longer with less joint problems, rather then several pups his age I've seen that are already 5-10# overweight even at only a year of age.
Rivers is eating a mixture of homecooked beef, beef heart, and Preference pre-mix from the HonestKitchen freeze dried mixture of veggies/fruits. He gets no grains, I do not like grains in the diet. BUT, that IS one way to put on weight.
Personally, I think your girl is fine and beautiful. So many dogs are on the heavy side, count your blessings that she's at an excellent weight....as long as she has plenty of energy.
Here's a recent one of Rivers
