Taste of the Wild Recalled Too

       The new bag you bought should be fine, but here's how to tell if the bag you bought is affected by the recall;

    I wanted to add to this post, because my dogs are so fussy and I was feeding TOTW when this latest recall came about, I vowed to stay away from Diamond Brands.

    So when going shopping for another grain free brand, I was talking to the people at the co op and they recommended Diamond Brand Lamb and Rice Grain Free. And I said no way, not with all the recalls they have been having.  They told me that they both feed Diamond to their dogs and never have had a problem, they also told me that all the recalls come out of the east coast plant production.  And our area is not serviced by that plant.

    So, I bought a small bag, and they love it, and it seems to set well with them.  So, what do you all think of this.  Can I feel comfortable with this brand coming from a different plant that has never had a recall of their products.  So confused.

    That was correct information up to last week.  Diamond's plant in Missouri was added to the list at the end of business on Friday, May 18th.

       Rice is a grain; perhaps you meant a different product? I don't have anything against rice; Jessie does better on it than on grain free food.

       Also, if you want to keep up on the recalls, besides the site micksmom linked, this site is very good;

    Current Dog Food Recalls

       You simply register and you will be notified by e-mail as soon as a recall is issued.

    Thanks guys, I am now going to look for a different brand.  I am not going to take a chance.

    You'd be surprised how many "grain free" foods I've loopked at that have brown rice in them.  Goatman68- have you looked at Earthborn Holistics?  After the recall of foods from the 2nd Diamond plant, I decided to switch our Lab from Natural Balance Duck & Potato to it. http://www.earthbornholisticpetfood.com/us/

    Yes, Nicksmom Earthborn is one of the ones I am going to look at and Blue.  There is also another one called Natures Variety Instinct that sounds good.

       A member on another forum e-mailed Natural Balance, asking them if they were going to continue to have their products manufactured by Diamond. This was the response;

     Thank you for contacting Natural Balance and for your support of our products. Diamond is implementing a hold and test program as a means to improve their ability to screen for potential contaminants. Natural Balance has been doing this kind of testing since 2007. Moving forward with Diamond Pet Foods, this will add a layer of testing that will be done on our products through their facilities.

    If you would feel more confident feeding a product that is not manufactured with Diamond, our grain-free Alpha formulas may be a good alternative for your pet. Our Alphas are manufactured in Nebraska, specifically.

    If you have any further questions, please let me know. Have a good evening!

       There wasn't any mention of the unsanitary conditions found at the plant; unbelievable!

     Oh, I've given up on emailing NB any questions, or asking on FB.  All you get is a promotional run around.  Funny they didn't mention whose plant the Alpha is manufactured in, just that it's in Nebraska.  I'm not surprised they didn't mention the unsanitary conditions at the Diamond plant- I posted the link to the article about it on their FB page and it got deleted.  The same thing happened when somebody else posted it.
