    Bevo has Bumps...*Updated*

During his range of motion exercises this evening, I noticed that Bev has a lot of bumps, & pustules.  They seem to be limited to his abdomen, flanks, & inner thighs.  I've already talked with his vets, & he will be going in to be checked tomorrow.  Does anyone have any ideas what these are?

    Right Abdomen

    Left Flank

    Left Inner Thigh

    One that has already ruptured

    Anybody have any ideas?

My first Irish Setter Willow had those kind of bumps. They always seemed to come up after a run in the fields. They always went away after a couple days. So I just assumed she was just allergic to some of the grass, weeds,or bugs out in the fields.

Hum.. they almost look like acne.  My pug gets acne on her lips that sometimes get pussey looking.  I don't know but I would get them checked out too.  Let us know..  and good luck.

ETA: Has Bev had any shots lately?  Could be a reaction?

Normally, I would assume that they were bites, but he hasn't been exposed to anything new.  At the moment, he's being leash walked only, & we haven't went into any high grass, ants, & moquitos have been very scarce.

I'm guessing allergic reaction of some sort, but honestly, that's just a guess. Sassy had a nasty infection that covered her entire stomach and the sores looked similar to those but there were millions of them and they eventually all melded into one massive sore. Hopefully Bevo won't have that happen. The poor guy has been thru enough recently. I'll be anxious to hear what you find out. We tend to encounter the strange and uncommon stuff in this household Tongue Tied

    Thanks for the links!

He's a little old for impetigo.  Lupus would explain all of his issues though.

Oh gosh Amanda lets hope not!  I did read in another thread that you were away to the lake this weekend with Bevo maybe it is simply an allergic reaction to something new.

Good vibes to something that's nothing!

I'm hoping that it's nothing, too!

I dropped him off at the vet this morning.  They are going to go ahead & biopsy it.

Oh Amanda - my heart goes out to you and 'my' handsome Bevo.  he must be so darned stressed (you too!).  I think whoever said maybe something at the lake might be on to something.  And of course his immune system is a mess from the prednisone too.

I have an intense desire to comfort him - please let him know that and deliver some loving for me Sad

Lupus would explain all of his issues though.

We ended up having to biopsy Sassy's infected area too and the concern was Lupus of Pemphigus ?. Fortunately, it came back as just a deep infection and after a couple months of having tried several different (expensive) antibiotics, I said "let's take a break" and it cleared up on it's own. I hope you get some answers from the biopsy.

Is Bevo having to take pred for all of what's going on?  That almost looks like some of the skin toxins coming to the top that you get with pred.

Is he up for a bath?  Selsun Blue is superb for staphy skin stuff and it wouldn't be harmful and might help it clear up.  Somehow it looks to me like internal yuck trying to find its way out of the skin ... toxins and the like from meds in the past.  Let's hope it's nothing more serious than that.

    Amanda,  Any update on Bevo?

    • Gold Top Dog

Amanda, how's Bevo doing?  Did the vet talk to you??

We are hoping it's nothing serious and most especially not Lupus(shudders at the very thought).

    I'll check back later.

Casey gets those.... it's an allergic reaction to something in the grass that breaks out into a staph infection. We just do a bath of chlorehexdine, and it clears right up. He doesn't seem bothered by it at all.
