Why do people get judged when asking a breeding question????

     No worries! Big Smile

I think it's extremely important for people to have rescues. Of my three dogs, two have come from shelters, and we foster as much as my husband can handle it Surprise

The goal is always to produce puppies who are better examples of the breed than their parents.

And this, in my eyes, makes a responsible, ethical and a good breeder. Breeding an unproven chi to an agressive chi does not equal ethical or responsible in my eyes.

Look in the papers - see how many people are breeding their pets because they are cute. It really just sickens me. Do you understand, MA, how many animals are euthanized each week because of health and temperment issues?

Just for clarity, the aggressive chi has been mentioned time and time again as a main sticking point.  The OP said "He can be a bit agressive but only in play with other dogs. He LOVES!! humans." .  That representation by the OP does not tell me we are talking about a Tazmanian Devil personality.  The OP could have used the words "excited", "overreaching", or some other adjective.   The points made to not breed this chi may be valid and should stand on their own with their own strength.

He has never HURT another dog or person. He justs play  a little more roughly than most other dogs. But hes not overly aggressive. And its hard to post everything you want to say on a forum.

    • Gold Top Dog

DPU was wrong too. Anyone who does that is.

    • Gold Top Dog

Not overly aggressive..... but that's still aggressive.

Aggressive/unproven pups - but hey. at least they will be cute.

They will only have their puppy shots when they go to new homes. If the dog doesnt work for them they can bring it back free of charge because I wouldnt want them to just dump it somewhere. The pups will be 8 and 1/2 weeks when I sell them. No they will not be altered. I will have a contract that says the pups must be altered by 9 months old. I wil send food, a puppy toy, and one little puppy sweater. As much money is needed to keep Possum and the pups safe. Yes I have an emergency vet a mile away. No my vet is not on call 24/7. If something goes wrong the emergency vet. No I have not spoken to a mentor but I plan to.

What happens if the pup has a genetic defect? Like, molera? And then the dog is bought by a family and is OK for a while, then dies due the the genetic defect that you chose not to test either parents for....What are you going to do then? Just say "oops! sorry!"...Confused

    • Gold Top Dog

all three sets of puppy shots? Or just the first one? How do you plan on insuring that the pups get all the shots they need? Will you have a refund policy if someone needs to give back their pet for health or behavioral issues?

She COULD have used those terms yes, but she CHOSE to use the term "aggressive".  This is a companion breed and many people who own them own more than one, in part because of their size.  So how is it even remotely sensible to use a DA dog as a stud?

MA, when you reply to someone, can you quote the post you are replying to, or the pertinent part of it.  I have no idea what this statement relates to.  In fact, I haven't really understood a great many of your posts because of this!  It just might help people understand you better of you make use of tat "quote" feature.  Smile

When you say: "they can bring back the pup at any time", I think you should change that "can" to a "must".  Wink
