Zippie,  I want to thank you.

When I orginally read your posts, ;part of me wanted to get mad and I was overwhelmed with wanting to argue with you about how right my decision was.  Your posts just confirmed to myself that it was truely the best answer and wanting to argue and get angry aren't neseccary when the truth is within myself.  I just felt a total rush of peace within.  You have truely helped me realize it without me having to explain my reasoning to you.  No matter how strange this sounds, thank you.

BJW, I believe that you made the most kind decision for you dog. I know how hard it was for you to come to this decision, & I respect the fact that you put your dog#%92s wellbeing ahead of you own personal feelings.  Keep your head up, you made the correct decision.

Zippie, I am going to make the assumption that you are just young, & naïve.  I will assume this because if this is untrue, you are a truly heartless person who is just trying to "stir the pot."  Anyone who has had a dog with hip dysplasia will tell you just how difficult managing HD is. In a very young dog, HD is even more difficult to manage. Yes, there are surgeries that can be performed in order to make the dog more comfortable. Unfortunately, while total hip replacements are very successful,  there are questions as to how long they will hold up. Most surgeons prefer doing total hip replacements on dogs that are 5-6 years old, as they are confident that the replacement will last throughout the dog#%92s life. In a perfect world, dogs wouldn#%92t have hip dysplasia at all. Sadly, we don#%92t live in a perfect world. I am confident that the OP made the best decision for her dog.

OK folks.  Enuff already.  Let's kindly remain ON topic and not respond to the unkind comments that have been made here.

    Thanks

    BJW,

I am amazed at your thoughtful and mature responses to Zippie.  I can't imagine having gone through what you have with your dog then being faced with such hostility and to respond with your kind manner.  I hope we all can learn from this and remember it when we're confronted in a similiar situation.

I'm sorry your little girl had such a short pain filled life, but for her sake, I'm thankful that she was given to someone who was willing to do right by her.  You and your dog certainly deserve better and hopefully your next dog will be easier.  Good luck in everything BJW.   And welcome to our forum.  [sm=peace.gif]
