quality of the time you had with him and not the quantity

Serge, Thanks for relaying that message that someone else gave you.  It is true, isn't it.  Our pups were so young!  I'm sorry about Sam.

Wow.  This does NOTHING to help the OP and obviously you could have expressed your opinion in a much nicer and sensitive way, if you felt the need to say something.

Sorry this is off-topic, but I felt the need to say something.  We should be caring and considerate here, rather than telling the OP something to make her feel worse.

Zippie, the OP took the advice of the vet who didn't think that they could relieve the pain enough to give the dog any quality of life at all.  If these remarks don't stop, I will have to consider you a troll and to advise the OP to block your posts.  That is the little red hand on the bottom line of your post.

To everyone else, please don't feed the trolls.  [sm=feedtroll.gif]     [sm=backtotopic.gif]

It is absolutely horrible to me that someone who is clearly having a difficult time with a difficult decision would come here to for help and encouragement and have someone act like this.  You have a right to whatever opinion you want, but on this board we do NOT treat others like that.  You should be ashamed of yourself.  She didn't kill her best friend, she did what she thought would prevent her best friend from the most pain.  I am embarassed for you!

Zippie, speaking AS A MODERATOR, I expect you to remove those posts.  Or they will be removed for you.  This kind of behavior is absolutely not acceptable here.

Actually, what you have made is yourself look like a total butt.  Not only in your posts here, but in your nasty emails to me.

To the OP.....I am very sorry for your loss.  FWIW, I think that you did the kindest and most loving thing possible, given the advice of your vet.  It is the ultimate gift of love to release your dog from that kind of horrific pain.  Hugs to you, and know that you're in my thots.

    Run free sweet baby.

I agree, you did a kind thing. Don't let the idiots get you down.

She had fear aggression so bad that it made it hard for the professionals to help her with her hip dyplasisa; they said the worse pain that she would continuely be in, the worse her fear would get and ulitmately she wouldn't let us (her family) help her either.  The vet said that she wouldn't have been a candidate for hip replacement surgery because of her fear aggression, she wouldn't have made it through rehabilitation, to accept the help that others would have had to provide her during that time.
I don't expect everyone to understand because I don't fully understand it either.  People here who have experienced this are the only ones that make any sense of it.
Not everyone can take their dogs to Ceasar for help.  She was in pain and I'm not a bad person.

I had to decide on keeping my sister alive too, that had unsuccessful brain surgery at 38 years old...she would have been a vegetable but I wouldn't allow them to pull the plug, I wanted to keep her alive for my own selfish reasons not because of her having a quality life.  She would have never been able to feed herself or walk & talk.  She died on her own shortly after.  To watch someone you love struggle with pain is cruel to them.  I don't feel bad because of what you have said Zippie, I have felt bad before you came online this weekend and decided to make rude outlashes.  I felt bad because it is hard NOT to be selfish and do what is right for your loved on.  I feel for your pet in pain that you decide to keep alive for your own selfish reasons.  What would your reasons be for keeping your dog in pain alive?...Just so you can come on here and act like God almighty and rightous.  And...if I would have choosen to keep her alive and in pain, I would have heard from people like you saying how bad that would have been to.  There's no mistakes in life and everything (AND, I mean everything) happens for a reason.  Good luck to you.
