Completely Frustrated..

Maybe dvet doesn't like holistic vets but I've heard of other vets who work with holistic vets in the care of dogs, and if it's helping Alley that's all that matters. My understanding of the definition of a holistic vet is that they have a DVM degree and also have studied holistic medicine.
Dyan, I hope the accupuncture helps your sister. I have seen it used in place of anesthesia for patients having surgery, so it certainly has the potential to help your sister's back.

    Get this...

My Holistic vet use to be a Regular Vet... she use to practice with the group of all women Vets I see now.
She got tired of the traditional ways of seeing dogs being overly vacinated and many nurmous things that go on daily in a clinic. I can't believe I forgot to share that bit of info.

In her early years she worked as a lab tech in a hospital and was a nurse too. I think she has done it all in the health care field of people and pets. She has shared so many stories and I find her fascinating and she can answer all my questions were most DVM's go..hum I don't know... Let me look into that and then your lucky if you hear back on that subject of request.

I soak her up like a sponge when Im around her cause we just click when we talk about everything from Rescuers gone bad to Vets gone bad..LOL She also travels and works on dogs in surrounding states. The way she handles Alley is amazing.. strong but soft. I think that is a gift... cause when you have a dog unsure and wanting to bite you well Pat never sways... she takes control and continues her work and then Alley relaxes and does everything but purr....LOL

She has been to see Cesar Millian and I have the opportunity of going in Nov and she feels strongly that I should go..even though its not one on one she said its so fascinating to watch him and learn from him.

She is a smart cookie but she also has an attitude of I don't care when I correct her...

Willow can be like that too.  What are you doing as far as training??  [:)]

ORIGINAL: willowchow   If he really thinks the way he does, why do his formula's contain corn!  Is that "species appropriate".  I'm not saying I'm against corn, but how he can say, dogs are carnivours and should eat "species" appropriate foods and then stick corn in his foods just confuses me.  Of course, I'm not the "genious" he is.

There is no longer corn used in Abady products.  This change occurred about 6 months to a year prior to the Diamond corn dilemma.  Pearled Barley has replaced corn ingredients(s).  Yes, species-appropriate despite grain, reason being the analysis is as states, not more than 1% fiber, Carbs less than 32%, heavier concentrations of animal source proteins.

You have your opinions; I have mine, but please don#%92t get the wrong idea I am trying to sell you anything by mentioning the above.  I know you don#%92t care for the stuff.  I was simply offering a potential solution to someone “completely frustrated” and left no stone unturned.  True, some may see this type of approach as healing the body through nutrition a bit “alternative” or “diverse” in regards to the philosophy behind the feed.  I have heard it referred to as a cult type of thing.  Heck, all I know is it is top-shelf stuff when it comes to dog food, the price reflects that, and people have far fewer problems in regards to overall health of their pets…and it works for me!

    Ummm......

Accupuncture is amazing! The dog doesn't fake getting better. Emma has liver shunts (we think she has multiple, microscopic shunts, but I opted not to poke and prod to find out), so she can't have NSAIDS to manage the immense pain that she's suffered from, at some points. She has a pinched nerve in her spine, and in December, she ran into a tree, twisting her back so badly that it shows on her x rays. She couldn't walk for a week. I carried her back and forth to different vets, and nobody did anything for her. It was HORRIBLE!!!! I was seriously considering having her euthanized. She's only 2. I found a vet who'd do accupuncture on her. I figured... why not. I was skeptical. I carried her in, she walked out. That night, she ran across the yard and caught a mouse. She must have known it was there all week!

I didn't believe homeopathics worked, either, till I tried some.

I do hope its because you truly believe in the product...I know I have talked to people that do...and I almost tried it myself. I liked the concept of what I read in the brochures from Abady, but first of all, I'm not mail ordering any dog food if I don't have to.  And secondly, it was too high priced for us feeding a Dane.

Yes, of course it's because I believe in the product.  I think willowchow is pipe-dreaming this stuff up about every person using the stuff becomes a marketing rep or something.  I guess it was when Kim mentioned the different colors of her dogs stomach I decided to offer something that might help, after all, she mentioned she's tried everything with no luck.
Now I'm kinda sorry I even bothered, sometimes it's best just read and not offer suggestions on what might help.

I have come across several on the net (breeders/Great Danes) using Abady granular, and pics of their dogs always look awesome.  I agree with you as far as cost, for the big dogs it could get pricey.

Really??? I did not say that literally every person using the stuff becomes a marketing rep for him.  But, they certainly all have the same this is THE best stuff ever attitude.

Heck, all I know is it is top-shelf stuff when it comes to dog food, the price reflects that

IMO, just because it's expensive doesn't make it "top shelf" nor has anything about it or the company made me ever think that.  AND, with the above quote my point above is yet again proven.

I'm now out of this discussion.

I am sure what Willow means is that everyone that comes here and talks about  Abady seems to be so strong in their opinions about the food that they seem to be "selling" it!  I suppose if you feel that the food you feed helped your dog, then you would want to share that fact with others.   That is the way I feel about Eagle Pack!

I can't stand his condescending tone, "genious level thinking" and his lines on "species appropriate diets".  …Of course, I'm not the "genious" he is…

Oh you proved your point sure enough; maybe we should consider the cheaper supermarket brands as top-shelf, huh genius?  Trust me, we can all tell you are not genius he is…lol

Although I have rather strong opinions on this food, am staying out of that aspect of this thread.  However, I would again remind everyone to play nice......

    • Gold Top Dog
True, and when they get ugly I'm here..... keep that in mind while you are thinking up names and how to use them

OK, I lied, I'm not out of this discussion quite yet.

Trust me, we can all tell you are not genius he is

First off, trust ME, there is no "we" here, only you.  I'm going to clarify what I meant since obviously there was some misunderstanding.

maybe we should consider the cheaper supermarket brands as top-shelf, huh genius?

Nope, but what I did mean is he's making people think it's such a wonderful food and charging a lot for it, when it's not.   They aren't the only ones though, quite a few brands do the same thing.

As far as me using the word "genious",  those were direct quotes from the Abady site.  I used them as an example as to what I meant when I said he was condescending.

And, now I'm done with yet another Abady discussion that wasn't really what this thread was about in the first place.
