Completely Frustrated..

Well, I must confess, sometimes I “rofl” myself when I see some of the ingredients of some products, i.e., potatoes, apples, carrots, yucca, cinnamon bark, etc.  What is it that makes you laugh about Abady?

NO! I'm not laughing about Abady.  Just that everytime Abady gets brought up on this forum  it turns into a major argument...including about the man himself!!!

I'm sorry if I missed part of this (for some reason I didn't get notifications that his thread was still going on)  I just wondered if you checked out the Moducare thought?

Ya know what, I'd stick with homecooking or try something else before trying Abady.  I looked at that site.  I can't stand his condescending tone, "genious level thinking" and his lines on "species appropriate diets".  If he really thinks the way he does, why do his formula's contain corn!  Is that "species appropriate".  I'm not saying I'm against corn, but how he can say, dogs are carnivours and should eat "species" appropriate foods and then stick corn in his foods just confuses me.  Of course, I'm not the "genious" he is.

He's shady too, I heard the FDA shut down one of his formulas.  His past kicking a dog in a show ring doesn't impress me either.  I don't care when it happened it happened and if you think that's the only time it happened, well. . .

I'd also like to know how he turns every person I've ever encountered who feeds this stuff into some kind of marketing person for him.  It's like they are brainwashed into believing his lines.  He can use by-products and he's OK, but Eukanuba's are not good.  Give me a break!

Excellent points Lori, and that's ALL I'm gonna say since discussions of Abady and his past behaviors in the show ring seem to escalate into all out war....

take it your not hurting if you have I private company do the cooking for you! Do they deliver…jeezzz my wife would sure love that arrangement! Make no

Maybe you should do this for your wife... WE did the math around here... for two people its alot cheaper than what we spending eating out or going to the grocery store and buying stuff we don't need or that isn't healthy ... half the time a person gets so busy they throw away what they have bought cause it goes bad so quickly.... DO THE MATH... same as the dog food idea!!! Its about taking charge of your life and eating right!!! Now about  how someone is doing finacially.

I won't continue this conversation with you anymore Charlie... I HATE and detest people that continue to shove an idea down ones throat just like ALL Raw feeders have done in the past..... Its like a Cult....and your lashing out at me with your remarks puts you in the very same catagory.

So take your food and go somewhere else....

I just wondered if you checked out the Moducare thought?

Yes I printed that off and sent it to her.... not an opition and she explain in detail exactly why....but I so appreicate this kind of info to run by my Holistic vet...

Also the reasons for the different meat is this... Alley has HOT SKIN...

    Chicken is a hot meat
    Vension is a hot meat

    Duck is a cool meat
    Pork is a cool meat

    Hamburger is nutral

My Specialist who travels all over giving semiars and she even taught my Holistic vet.... so I find that very helpful when they work together with each other idea's and aren't close minded....

Nice…thanks.  I am not a rep or distributor.  There is absolutely nothing in it for me, just trying to be helpful.  Continue on the path of acupuncture and herbs if you feel that is the best approach and good luck.  I will never mention Abady again of offer any suggestions for you to investigate.  I wish you and your dog the best and apologize if I offended you in any way.

Folks, if you can't say something nice.......

Unfortunately discussions on abady tend to go badly, but this is NOT even about abady anymore.  I personally have always COOKED fresh and wholesome food for my family, even when I worked full time, however I can really see the value in some of these services that have sprung up.  One local spot does all the prep work for you and basically you go in, assemble a weeks worth of meals, take the food and leave the clean up to them.  That's kind of appealing...the clean up is the WORST!!

    However I digress.....

Can we get back to the topic at hand and stop beating each other up?  Please?  I'd hate to see Jaime come in here with her RED INK!!

See, I told you that Abady turns into a major argument around here.

I do hope its because you truly believe in the product...I know I have talked to people that do...and I almost tried it myself. I liked the concept of what I read in the brochures from Abady, but first of all, I'm not mail ordering any dog food if I don't have to.  And secondly, it was too high priced for us feeding a Dane.
Terrerierlover, I'm sorry that the Moducare  idea didn't work. The person that told us about it years ago thought it saved his dogs life.

I obviouslyhave not read, nor will I  read all the previous  postings but  once in a while if i had a chronic patient like this I would use the lowest dose possible of pred even on a monthy basis during the allergy season...sometimes on some animals just one 5  mg tablet per month will hold them....and just a personal opinion but i think accupuncture  is as worthless as-----whoops can;t say that.
    • Gold Top Dog
dvet, I've heard that you are an actual vet, and understand your skepticism concerning accupuncture alleviating allergy symptoms, but have you considered it for dogs with arthritis? There are many members on this board who have found it very helpful for their dogs with arthritis.

What we are working on is cooling the skin with accupunture. Alleys skin has cooled down alot with doing this as she was holding in to much heat. You could just touch her and feel the heat.

By changing her diet it has helped keep her cooler too.

As for pred... I do the 5 mil at least twice a week in bad times to keep a handle on the situation.

Im doing benedryl right now and keeping it up and not slacking off and it seems to be helping. Plus I have my air conditioner on since we live out on property and its already way to warm for April...ugh :(

Very interesting.  [:)] Did the holistic vet explain how accupuncture cools the skin? It's good that the Benedryl is helping. That should enable you to use less prednisone. I'm sure the air conditioning helps, because cool air should be soothing to her skin, not to mention opening the windows will let in pollen. Do you think the training (Alley Boot Camp) is helping ? She is so lucky to have you and your hubby, not many people would be willing to do all you have done for her.
    • Gold Top Dog
Yeah, I agree she is lucky to have you guys, so hang in there and keep up the good work.    I also feel your lucky that Benedryl has been helping, it didn't help our Ollie at all.    So one thing in your favor.
I sure wish dvet hadn't said that about accupunture,,,that is my sisters last hope for all the pain she has been going thru with her back!
    • Gold Top Dog
As for cooling her skin it has to do with the wind.... not the wind outside..LOL its the way the wind in the body....Im horrible at explaining it.... but its a Chinese thingie..LOL but its working... it has to do with were she places the needles on Alley. Alley was holding so much heat.

And again to highlight... ALLEY IS ON NO HERBS cause they made her worse. But the accupunture did cool her skin. She is only on bonemeal with her food and Iv been adding dream coat.
As for Benedryl...Im being more viglant with it... not just here and there when I see her bad...Im really sticking with it around the clock and that seems to be the key since its success rate is about 30 percent.

As for those not thinking Holistic vets aren't worth a darn... Don't you find it interesting that MY SPECIALIST suggested accupunture cause we had done all we could for Alley. This is again a Specialist that flys around the US teaching and owned 2 of her own practices.

As for Boot camp..... Well let me put it this way....I hate crates so I won't do that.... and IM not into time outs. Its gotten almost up to 90 outside and so windy with so much stuff in the air that Im not going to walk her in heat and pollen and dust.
What I have done is a gentle correction when she gets out of line with the other dogs. When she thinks all the toys are her's and trys to bite everyone on the butt as they run out the door to catch a squirrel well......... IM not allowing bad behavior with the other dogs anymore. Being Alpha is one thing...but my correcting her has been working. She is a smart cookie but she also has an attitude of I don't care when I correct her...

Hubby and Iv decided to pick our battles as we may with Alley.  I will start using a crate in the car cause she loves to get things started with the other dogs like who is going to be first out the car door. That is unacceptable.

Okay I smell the sweet potato's...I think they are done...LOL Iv done squash and green beans and now its the potato's turn....

Again Thanks guys for all your support....I do appreciate it....[:D]

When I talk about Wind... Im talking in the energy in the body......and how it goes through the liver and such.... very intersting...
