Sallya,I'm so glad I found your post about this tooth gel.I ordered some to try on Frosty. His back teeth have tarter build up.Everytime I think I will have the money to have his teeth cleaned his sister Myrt seems to have something go wrong and his teeth cleaning money goes to pay her vet bill.
My niece Lindsey would just love Trudy and Molly. They are both very cute with their bows.
I added a picture of my buddies.Frosty is on the left and thats my Myrtie on the right. They are brother and sister Australian Cattle Dogs

Ordered some as soon as I saw your post.  The vet just said Georgie would have to have his teeth cleaned at next check up.  Maybe this will avoid that anesthetic.  Thanks for passing this info along.

Well, there is a chance, but just make sure you get the teeth done if needed of course.  I hope it works for you too. I brush it on sometimes and just put it in with my finger other times. I am really pleased! You might want to take some before pics. if you can, then you can see the diff. I WISH I had. There was one tooth that was so dirty. Now I have no before pic! This is just one tool to try. Good luck.

Oh, and you can take it to your vet and see what he thinks. My vet said it was fine. I can't wait to tell her how it works. She was interested to see if it worked. I am sure each dog is diff. and some have more plaque etc.

I think we've used this before and it worked well for our dog too

Yup it was me that put the first post up about it.
I just did a search for my post and found this one.  Wanted to post my results and they're not so good as yours.  I've been using the product for over 60 days, following the directions and I see little or no improvement on her teeth at all.  And she's only 2 years old and her teeth weren't bad to begin with, just a little yellow with barely any plaq buildup.  And over 60 days later they look the same.  I just wrote a letter to petzlife to ask for suggestions.  Wish I could recommend the product, but so far, no good.

Ok, I managed to get a picture of her teeth (if anyone has any advice on getting good detailed pics of teeth I'm all ears, it's not easy to do, flash makes everything white if too close)  Anyhow, this is the result of 60+ days of Petzlife spray & gel, so you can see that it isn't working like the pictures on their site show after 60 days of use [sm=asking03.gif]

Every dog is different I guess. Too bad it didn't work for you! I use it every other night or so, I usually brush it on.

what kind of brush do you use?

Also, i dont know if it takes care of 'whitning' teeth, but just ridding them of plaque.. Cant tell in pic if it is just 'color' or actual plack???
    • Gold Top Dog
That is true. It is supposed to loosen plaque. To answer your question, I use a tiny, soft toothbrush for small kids. Trudy has a small mouth and teeth. I want the softest brush, don't want to ever hurt the gums. People need soft brushes also.

I could brush the stuff on her teeth, however, the problem with her is that once I start brushing, she starts to lick, which causes her jaw to open and close and it becomes impossible to brush effectively.  How do you deal with that?

Trudy is small, it is easy to brush her teeth. Can you pull the lip up and brush with the jaw closed?

This has nothing to do with the teeth cleaning.  But, I was admiring your dogs hiking pictures.  I noticed the backpack he's wearing goes pretty far down his back.  It's better for them to carry weight up higher closer to the shoulder blade area than further down around the mid to lower back area.  I just wanted to mention it, not in a negative way.  It's just some people don't realize.

Thanks, yeah I know you're right; I need to get rid of this pack for other reasons too.  She's in such good physical shape that I can't get the back strap tight enough, not enough meat to grab onto on her body.  I've seen some better ones online, so expensive though!  I don't even put anything heavy in this one, just poop bags, treats and her shoes (I carry her water)  If you like the hiking pics here are some more:

It's a job just to get past her big ol floppy lips but I can do that, the problem is she does NOT keep her jaw closed when the toothbrush touches her teeth, she goes into lick mode and even though she's not actually licking anything but the air, the jaw is still opening and closing so it's super hard to get any brushing in.  And I'm just talking about the front side of the teeth (facing out to us)  I don't even know what the inside of her teeth look like.

Sallya - What kind of brush/comb so you use?? I have a Shih tzu and a Llhasa and they hate to be brushed. Maybe I'm using the wrong tools. Mine aren't as long as yours, she is gorgeous by the way!!! Thx!
