For now we are treating it with an anti inflammatory and antibiotics.

I hope that also includes lots of probiotics 2-3 hours after the antibiotics, plus milk thistle to help the liver metabolize the drugs.

Yes on the probiotics,I didnt think about the milk thistle but I have it on hand.

We do think its someting he ate got ahold of. Vinny can and does catch birds and mice.He has not been able to get to the rasoberry for about a

month. They did ask about him eat fish . We havent ate or had fish in months, but we where at the river Sunday. He was not ever out of sight and we did not catch him eating anything, But he is a fast little bugger.

  I know someone who had to rush their Standard poodle to Purdue Small Animal Hospital with seizure-like symptoms. After blood tests and an exam, the vet said the dog had likely been affected by mold or fungus. He said they see a fair number of dogs with the same symptoms and they can get the mold from eating dead animals. This dog has the run of about 40 acres so he could have easily eaten something the owner wasn't aware of. The dog recovered quickly after treatment. I've also known someone with a Beagle that got very sick; the vet said it was salmonella. They had fed the dog raw chicken. We tend to think dogs have iron stomachs, but that's not always the case.

It is true that not all dogs have iron stomachs.  It is also true that some vets blame a raw diet for problems that have nothing to do with the raw diet.  Many of them are brainwashed in vet school to believe that raw diets are inherently dangerous rather than being a species-appropriate diet for a canine.

It is far easier to claim that a raw diet introduced salmonella than to figure out that a dog picked up an infection from eating a dead bird or rodent.

  I agree with that, and didn't mean to sound like it's wrong to feed a raw diet. Before Jessie got chronic pancreatitis, I used to give her raw meat as a treat. In the case I mentioned with the Beagle, it's almost certain that the raw chicken was the cause, and he was very sick.
