Waiting to see the vet

    Waiting to see the vet

Been up all night with a pup ( Vinny), Running a temp between 103.1 to 104.8

He’s eating and drinking ( been trying lots of fluids) but lethargic and has the

    Runs.

No vet out here at night and my vet can’t see him till 1:00. His temp was normal this

    Morning, but still lethargic.

I have no idea what brought this on. No bug bites, fights or exposure to chemicals exctra-

Which makes me nervous they’ll find anything at the vets.

I am thinking physical exam and blood work.

Vinny is a Daschund mix. I am betting terrier. We rescued at 5 mnths last sept.

He is a 13lbs and a skinny bugger although the Vets assure me his weight is fine.

((( HUGS))); Sending healing vibes for Vinny. I hope the vet is able to find the cause for his illness and that it's easily treatable.

Thank you all for you thoughts. It is really appreciated.

The hardest part is the waiting and hoping you are doing the

Right care in the mean time.

Although I think Vinny would tell you its not only feeling bad

But having something shoved up your bum, every so many hours.Stick out tongue

3.5 hours at the vet , Exam ,x-rays and blood work .Narrowed it down to a bacterial infection in the

    Small intestine.

Problem is we cant figure out what caused it.

For now we are treating it with an anti inflammatory and antibiotics.

Someone I know went through a mystery bacterial infection with his pup.  They never did figure it out.  Puppy started going downhill and they thought they'd lose her and switched antibiotics on an IV drip and she went home the next afternoon.

Hope he's OK and feeling better soon!

For now we are treating it with an anti inflammatory and antibiotics.

I hope that also includes lots of probiotics 2-3 hours after the antibiotics, plus milk thistle to help the liver metabolize the drugs.

Awww, poor Vinny!  Could the infection have been caused by something he ate while "picking" raspberries?  Maybe he swallowed a thorn or twig or something and scratched his intestinal tract, which then became infected?

Poor little guy.  Give him some gentle belly rubs from me.

     Feel better soon Vinny!
