Is that wording from the pathology report or words your vet used?? It's a strange way to say it.
Did the vet say whether they got clear margins with the surgery?? (that means no bad cells were found around the outer edge of the tissue).
Honestly? it's a learned 'art' to ask questions of a vet without them assuming you're whiney or weird. Saying something like "Oops -- you lost me there -- I don't mean to be dense but when you say 'it will become' -- do you mean still??? LIke you didn't get all of it? Or do you mean that if we hadn't done the surgery??"
I've found phrases like "Hmm ... teach me a little bit here ... what does ____ mean? I don't mean to be dense -- you're being kind enough to explain and I want to understand."
In other words -- choosing your words so you don't make them think you're challenging their medical decision but rather wanting to understand.
Another thing I've found helpful -- particularly when you have a relationship with a vet that you WANT to salvage, is writing them a letter "personal and confidential". Then you have a chance to say *completely* what you want to communicate, AND apologize if you think you've been misunderstood.
THEN
They have a chance to re-read and RE-THINK that before they see you face to face. Give them your phone number and a time when you will be able to completely give them your attention or invite them to ask you to come in without the dog or something.
Or .. it gives you the chance to exit having said all you want to.
