I would never dress my dog in clothes. They have fur which protects them and I hate it when ppl put shoes on dogs. The dogs look so uncomfortable.

Yes indeed I do dress up my dog, where's the harm and why not have some fun!  My dog's name is Whoopie, and she is a Puli, a Hungarian Sheepdog, and even though I do not cord her coat, she is still an appealing site.  She is 4 and 1/2 yrs old now and I got her since she was  pup, from a friend of mine.  Whoopie appears on Dogster.com also, has her own webpage.   I have started a blog on dog health in her honor, and as I have survived breast cancer myself, I am devoting the time in writing about dogs, which  is one of my passions.  I will add some pictures here, of Whoopie in her winter coat. As we live up here in Ontario, Canada, it gets a little chilly and icy on the paws.  Mainly I want to prevent her from getting salt in her paws, although I take her to a park nearby almost every day.
I do hope to enjoy learning here, and posting also and since this is my first post, Whoopie says a big hello to everyone.  Paw up in the air....lol.....

Dundee dresses up for Halloween- in 2006 he was a jailbird, and the neighborhood where we walked gave him rave reviews! (Sorry, can't seem to find the photo. Will post later if found.) This year, he's going to be a hockey player- I found a child-size Red Wings jersey that fits him perfectly.  Haven't figured anything out yet for Holly for Halloween.
Both dogs get raincoated for potty trips when it's raining, because I hate wet dog smell, and like playing with wet dogs even less.
Otherwise, they don't dress up, except for holiday bandanas. They're both lovely dogs, and it seems like it would be gilding the lily.
Here's Dundee in his raincoat. He looks small, but he's actually 62 pounds, and this is a human raincoat (my size). We just have to roll up the sleeves a bit. Those are duckies on the lining- isn't he sweet!

[sm=welcome2.gif] Whoopie looks so cute in that coat and hat!  And look, she even grinned for the camera... what a sweet expression!  :D

Here's another try for Dundee in the raincoat. Not sure why it didn't work the first time.
...Let me add, I've nothing against folks dressing their dogs regularly, as long as the dog accepts it. It's just not "me".

I don't have any pictures, but my dog wears this like light blue shirt. Well it's not really a shirt, but it's like the top part of a bathing suit. And it has surfboards at the back of it. It's really cute![;)]

My guys would be highly offended as it would be a total denial of their dogginess.....The poor coonhound though was a victim of my daughter's attempts at dress up-really felt sorry for her, and I am sure, that while she didn't show any anger at my daughter during the dolly dress up phase, she is privately relieved that my daughter has moved on to other things.   I do have a coat for extremely cold weather for the coonhound, because she really hasn't a great deal of coat to insulate, but it comes out very rarely indeed.  The "Guys" just get very wooly over the course of winter and then molt (not shed) in the spring

Nope.  Button, my oldest, rips off anything you put on her.  She even chewed her way out of her first nylon harness!

Zipper, my rescue doesn't like clothes either.  They both like a warm blankie, but that's about all they'll tolerate on top of them (and I had to virtually teach them to like even blankets!  For her first two years, Button thought blankies were prey, to shake kill!  Big Smile

Mine hate it when I put something on them. So they go naked except for their harnesses & tags when we leave the house.

    Hi ,

I am new to this site, but I was reading the stuff on whether or not you dress up your dogs. I do and my two yorkies love to be

dressed . All I have to say is lets make you pretty and they will let me put clothes on them and put bows in there hair.

They also love the scarves I make them. I make their scarves for every holiday and some that are not for holidays. I

started dressing them at eight weeks of age.

Well Sure doesn't every one???  Kota, a  7 yro grand"puppy " is here for an extended boarding situation. Yesterday He was dressed up aas Dolly Parton , a Redneck and a New York Tourist ...he grinned the whole time. Kota weighs in around 85 pounds. He has an extensive wardrobe at  ome for wet and cold months so he and the grandkids loved playing dress up.  When our foundation pair were going to make us some babies, we had a wedding, veil, tux and matching collars didn't want to give the wrong ideas to the young girls in the house LOL

BTW The NAILS are awesome !!! My 12+ yro retired champion always seems to have hot pink nails...
