Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

Sophie
Tonight my dad put Sophie to sleep. She had been with our family for 2 months shy of 18 years. I'm not sad as I write this. I do feel empty though. You see, Sophie was a lovely red Pekingnese and she always thought of me as her puppy. Rather than mourn her, I want this post to celebrate her life...

Run Free Bernd!!
Last night Bernd an 11-month-old GSD crossed the rainbow bridge. He was formerly known as Wolfie who from the age of about 12 weeks spent his entire life at the end of and 8-foot chain, chained to a carport with a leaky roof, with only rocks for a bed. His life was hard, as most days he had no water...

Something to think about;
This is an exert from a story that I read the other day, "We don't get over losing the dogs who have been part of our life-- we just get used to living without them. I thought to myself this is so true

For all of us (ron2)
I usually dedicate this to those who have worked in shelters or in rescues. But I think it fits for all of us. The pets we have loved and lost. And lately, the story of Bernd, to whom someone made a big difference. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTa8U0Wa0q8 "Your Song" by Sir Elton John...

How can it be a whole year???
How can it be a whole year that my sweet Dancer is gone? Maybe because I still say goodnight to ALL my dogs each night, here or not, I simply lost track of time. But, she is still the most missed... Mom still loves you big time, Dance.

Lost friend
I have posted messages in the past when I lost two beloved dogs within 3 days. My life became busy over the summer with family issues and I have been very lax in logging on until today. Once again, I have lost a beloved friend. What I thought was going to be a routine vet visit for a sore leg turned...

Goodbye, Tango...
I just wanted to let everybody know that Tango had to be put to sleep last Tuesday. That's why I haven't really been around much. She woke up (last) Monday morning unable to walk (we thought she had slipped a disc or two - in which case, she would've had surgery). We took her for some tests...

I killed my dog.
I had Sparky for three years, and we were so close, especially after the sudden death of my husband a year ago. He was so sweet and loving and good. He would follow me around the house, just to be in the same room as me, and he was SO happy when I came home, he soothed my broken heart. I got complacent...

Diesel...
A friend of mine got Diesel from a BYB. He felt sorry for the pups that were left. Yep, he and his family took all 3 pups. They weren't well bred. They were filled with worms, and from what I was told they had fleas as well. They took all three pups home, found homes for two of them and kept...

Mawmaw's dog, Butch
September 10th was the day that Butch crossed the rainbow bridge. He was a 10 year old Chi mix. He was out in the yard with my Mawmaw when 3 dogs ran by and grabbed Butch and took off with him. They had a tug of war match using Butch as the "tug rope" He was my Pawpaw's dog and when Pawpaw...

Good bye dear friend
Well it's been over a week now and still hard to talk or write about it without bawling. On Sunday 9/9/07 I had to help my old boy Ch York's Whailin' Willie CGC to the bridge, he was 13. The cancer finally won out over his body although he never showed any signs of pain or discomfort....

Sara is gone
our hearts are broken, and I don't know if they will heal. Three small faces look at me with tears and I don't know how to comfort them or make the hurting stop, because I can't do it for myself. She was the best dog ever. Gentle, loving. I love you Sara, no one will ever take your place...
