My protector of 16 years... I went out for half an hour yesterday and came home to find her bleeding from her nose and mouth. Rushed her to the Vet where the prognosis did not appear to be good, so we helped her cross the Bridge to be with Winnie, Biscotti and her Dad. She had several other issues going on also, and we knew it was just a matter of time. My heart is broken, though....
She was adopted as a puppy by my Marine Corps son. They both came to live with us for a few years when he was discharged. She stayed with us after his marriage because of their rental house, but when they bought a home, he had hoped to take her back with him. Either she considered my home hers, or she was starting to go blind at that time, we don't know. But she didn't like the change, so she came back here for the rest of her life. Spent her time chasing squirrels with Biscotti until her blindness made her feel more comfortable inside than out.
My son likes to say that she spent her life trying to be a Basset Hound...I will miss my little Boo Bear...
