Has anyone heard of this nail tool?

I just bought it.  I'll let you know how it works!

Whoopee!  I did notice that a portion of the profits go to no-kill shelters.  I was hoping someone had tried it before I bought it.  Hubby is a sucker for all these new fangle products, we have a house full of kitchen products that dont exactly do what he thought it would do, lol.

These were introduced in Dallas at the Pet Pro Classic last year, and they were REALLY super popular.  I actually waited around to see if other groomers still liked them, and I'm sure glad I did.  Apparently, it leaks the ground-up nail dust, and many people have had troubles with their batteries working.  The company does not seem to be doing it's job so well.  One of my groomer friends told she doesn't use hers very much because it's not near as powerful as her regular dremel.  I'm sure glad I didn't waste my money on one.

Thank you for the tip.   I did go check it out, it does indicate that some of these problems have been addressed.  Guess I will wait for feedback from kelliope.

I bought the guard (because I already had a Dremel).  It is a GREAT device, especially if your dog has long-haired paws.

 I like the dremel without the guard.  I'd rather see exactly what I'm doing.  The nylon over the paw with the nail poked through really helps for those furry paws.

Yup, I'd heard about the nylon trick, but never actually tried it.  The peticure removes the need for that step.  The other thing it seems to have cured is the "skipping" that you can sometimes get with a naked dremel, plus, you can safely put the dremel/peticure down while it is running without worrying what's going to come in contact with the spinning drum.

I hear you on the "not seeing what's going on" issue with the peticure.  That was probably the only problem I've had with it's use.  After a few uses, though, I've gotten past it.

Others have complained that it is difficult to use on dewclaws.  I experienced this when we were boarding my MIL's Golden Retriever, but Winnie has no dewclaws, so another non-issue (for me), until next winter.

All it is is a dremel knockoff.  Beed doing my pups nails for years using a dremel.  You can get a dremel minimite for less than $30.  You can also go to the local hardware store and get 6 sanding drums for less than $3.00. 

 Steve, this tool seems to be affiliated with the Dremel in some way.  They also sell a guard that is fitted specifically to *Dremel.  They don't list other rotary tools.

Not too sure.  The look of the tool is nothing like any dremel I've seen.

Since Dremel is the most common rotary tool there are manufacturers that makes accessories for the dremel and I would believe if you made this little guard for rotary tools you would pick a dremel to fit.  Btw,  I first saw those guards about 5 years ago.  Can't remember who was selling them though.

 Fair enough.  I didn't spend that much time looking at the site to be honest.  I have my Dremel and I'm happy with it.

I just caught an add on this tool the other night and I must say I'm intrigued.  I've been curious about trying a dremel for Kirby, but was real worried about his long hair getting caught.  I've heard the trick about nylon over the paw, but that just sounds like it would be a pain to do and I think I would still be worried about him moving funny and some of his chest fur/ear fringes getting caught if he leaned in to look at the dremel while I was using it.  This tool just sounds like it will simplify things so much especially since it looks like it will cut down on the backwash of nail dust.  He's nails pretty much take care of themselves with all the walking we do, but this looks like it will be the perfect tool to do the little touch ups.  I'm planning on researching it a bit more but I'll be sure to let everyone know how it works for me if I end up getting one.

Put a tee shirt on the dog.  That's what I do.

I don't worry about the hair around the head.  Only my girl gets her nose anywhere close.  She likes to lick the dust.
