hmmm, I feed Evo and Innova.  Not sure how I feel about this but I guess I'll take a wait and see approach for now.

Now I'm glad I've switched the cat off of the CA Natural - just in case they change things (he does not do well with change).  I hope they don't alter the formulas like they did when they acquired Iams.Huh?

make sure you compare the old ingredient list to the to a new one . I used to sell dog food and when the company changed hands its quality usually went down and ingredients were replaced by inferior things. Especially if it was huge people food company. They tend to put the stuff that is not fit for human consumption in the dog food. People tend to read a label and choose a food and then never go back and read it again. You will have a food that had real meat in it and then all of the sudden it has meat meal or the rice changes into something else. Everyone should read the list every couple of months just to make sure their food has not changed. The food companies can do it without warning.

I agree -- Proctor and Gamble is way up there with me with Ft. Dodge -- I just plain won't use their products.  I don't trust them, I don't like their testing practices ... I just don't like them.  *sigh*  It is a SAD day.

What a crock of you know what.....

""It's time for the right company to take our brands to the next level of growth. P&G is that company," said John Rademakers, founder and owner of Natura Pet Products. "We know that P&G will honor our history as they capitalize on their strengths to build these brands."

P & G will take it to the next level alright. So that pretty much wipes out a lot of good brands..

Natura's brands include Innova, Evo, California Natural, Healthwise, Mother Nature and Karma.

I remember years ago when I started working in dog food Nutro was one of the private owned companies and at that time was like a new deal, their reps said they will never sell out.  And then they did!  They all seem to eventually.  I was with Ralston when Nestle took over.  All the food giants want a piece of this multi billion dollar industry.  Remember 30 years ago when our choices were Kibbles n Bits and Gravy Train?  Iam was the "it" food for a long time.  We would like to think that the small family run organic pet food producers are above the all mighty dollar but I guess millions of dollars are quite tempting!  Will we see EVO on the grocery shelves before long?

Thanks for the heads up.  Charlie only eats Innova...guess I better start looking at other foods.

Maybe they'll put the foods in less hard to find outlets like the grocery store...maybe it will get cheaper. Maybe the sky won't fall down...and maybe the world won't end in 2012.

Both of those things are very likely to happen.  And it's very unlikely they will happen w/o the quality of the ingredients suffering.
