Proctor and Gamble Purchases Natura

Maybe they'll put the foods in less hard to find outlets like the grocery store...maybe it will get cheaper.

Both of those things are very likely to happen.  And it's very unlikely they will happen w/o the quality of the ingredients suffering.

Jessie has chronic pancreatitis along with many food allergies and has been doing great on the California Natural Low fat Rice and Lamb. I'm very disappointed  to learn this; thanks for the heads up. If they mess with the ingredients, I can go back to home cooking, but she likes kibble better- go figure.

It would be nice if it wasnt so pricey but I am annoyed that the ingrediants will suffer, at least Im very sure they will cut corners. but who knows, I did call my friends and family who use it so they could find something better because many of them have allergy dogs and it will be bad if those ingrediants find there way in those dogs bowls. P and G will probably not announce any inged. changes too.

So I filled out a survey about Natura that must've been emailed to me by P&G for a coupon for Natura food (even if I don't use the coupon I wanted to give my feedback). This was one of the questions:

Currently, EVO Red Meat contains five different red meat products. Consideration is being given to adjusting the EVO Red Meat formulation to include two types of red meat protein, Lamb Meal and Beef which will result in a more balanced formula. This change may reduce the level of protein in the food from 42% to as much as 31%. The new EVO Red Meat will have a more balanced distribution of calories from protein, carbohydrate and fat. The formula will remain grain-free.

They then asked how supportive I would be of the change. :-P ETA: They also hinted that they might put chicken fat in the EVO Red Meat formula.

I got an e-mail survey a month or two ago, and got a coupon.

I just started Finn on California Natural.  His gas problems have completely disappeared.  This really upsets me.  Now I am going to have to try again.  I was so happy to find something that worked for  him FINALLY.  Now this...

I just finished a bag of Cal Nat so I cut the back off and saved it.  From now on I will be comparing to every bag I buy to make sure it's the same.  Luckily my breeder buys bulk orders at wholesale price and I know she's got a skid of Cal Nat left so I'll be OK for a while and with a locked in price, but still a major bummer.

Dang, I really hate to see this. I have a dog on EVO red meat for particular health issues and don't want them to change the formula one bit!

But I remember from the discussions surrounding Timberwolf Organics that a company can change the formula before they change the packaging - they have some sort of grace period. That makes me very nervous about continuing to feed Natura products.

Well that just plain sucks! I don't even care if the ingredients change, neither of my dogs have allergies or troubles. However, I do not like P&G as a company. I refuse to support them. It's sad, I really thought Natura was a great company and fed Penny Innova EVO for many years. I guess I'll just have to stick with Orijen.

This is scary. Thankfully the sled dogs eat an Eaglepack brand, but I was frequently rotating in several Natura products for the retired and pet dogs. Disappointing... to think that Proctor and Gamble is going to control those lines.

FYI, the company can change the ingredients without having to put the changes on the label for *six months* - that alone is enough to make me say I've bought my last bag.  If this company cared about quality, they wouldn't be selling Iams and Euk as presently constituted.  They are the parent company for those foods, too:-(

I read that the sale won't take place for at least a month.     A poster on another forum that sells pet foods has recieved a letter from the company about the sale...saying that the couple that owns it is over 71 years old and need to retire and relax.   They might not have anymore to take over for them..................or more likely was given an offer from P and G that they couldn't resist.

Linda Arndt, the Great Dane Lady has always had a list of recommended foods on her website http://www.greatdanelady.com/articles/criteria_list_of_better_foods.htm, it has change a lot over the past year....of course knocking Eagle Pack right off of it since they sold out to a larger company. I just looked and she doesn't have it updated since this news about Natura because its still on it.....but her list now consists only of family owned pet food companies.  Might be something in there to try.

No, apparently you were chosen for a reason;-))  It wouldn't let me in.  For the record, P&G, NOOOOOOOO I don't want you to change the formula to include your crap ingredients.

I have a FB group dedicated to not purchasing Natura products if they sell to Proctor and Gamble, and someone posted this on my wall today.  I don't know how true it is, but may be worth a try, and I'm asking all idoggers to help with this, whether you currently feed these products or not.  Help those of us who would prefer to be able to continue feeding our dogs the food they do best on:

    NATURA ALERT: The
