I guess I'll weigh in here....
There are plenty of other forums out there available to anyone on the net. There are two that I know of that were started off of this forum by previous members of this forum. I am a member of one of those and also visit the other regularly although not a member I like to read some of the conversations.
As with what has happened in the past, forums tend to "cycle". I've seen it a few times since we've purchased this domain. Generally some people will go and not return but there are times when they just need a break from what is happening here and return at some point. Mostly these things happen from differnce of opinion or heavy handed unfair moderating. Of course some of that moderating is needed and it is actually a relief that they have moved on.
Spamming is an issue when it comes to THIS forum. When PM's are sent to masses of members and it is unwanted it is considered SPAM. That is where I will step in and notify the person that the behavior needs to stop when it is brought to my attention. I have had the pleasure to notify a member prior to the new format.
Now we've also seen where *new* members who own their own forums come along and post in a SPAMish way trying to get traffic to their site and members. Those types of posts should be removed and that member gets a nice little e-mail letting them know that continued behavior will result in suspension up to and including termination...generally that is enough, if not- Buh bye!
So in the end, if you want to talk about other forums please do so with respect of the members here who are enjoying this forum and want to continue to make it better. What happens on other forums is just that...what happens there. It doesn't and shouldn't play into this forum or the members here. If I do see that behaviors toward members here are being expressed because of what they may have said on another forum then we will be talking privately, as I said, what happens there stays there, don't bring it here or you will be the one in the hot seat.
Any questions, feel free to contact me
