I have to be honest and say that any talk of penalising members who left when things got tough makes me very uneasy. Many people understandably just want a fun, lighthearted internet experience and will go wherever that is offered to them. It is no secret that that this forum has had its share of problems and maybe there are those who would prefer not to be exposed to that. I will blame no one for feeling that way, because at the end of the day no one is making us be here and we can all devote as much or as little time to this forum as we wish. That is the beauty of choices.
This is not the only forum I am a member of, so my only "duty" if you will is to be loyal to each in their turn for the place they hold in my life and the purposes they serve for me, which are not all the same. I would be VERY offended if anyone called my loyalty into question simply because someone else might be more so. If a bunch of cr*ap goes down on this forum and I am not here to try to douse the flames because something in my life prevents me from that, am I disloyal? Who is the judge of who is a loyal member and who is not?
"Punishment", within the bounds of what can be handed out on this forum, will as far as I am aware only EVER be used for offenses on this forum or directly relating to it. I would be very unhappy with using those tools on anyone who went in search of a forum experience that was better suited to them.
