Recruiting efforts to leave this forum?????

I think every rule for being a member here can be encompassed in the following words:

    Use Common Sense!

If you have reservations about what you are posting, either re-read it or don't post it at all.  Treat members the way you would treat people in your ordinary life - you may not be able to see the face of the person you are posting to but that does not make them any less of a person.

    Dave,

As long as you aren't rude, abusive, attacking and don't use foul language you should be fine. If I recall you were never suspended while I was here before, why would your behavior have changed so drastically that you would fear of being in the hot seat?????

    Billy,

Just remember YOU said that not me Confused Although some days I might agree strongly...hehehehe

Sorry, Billy....you left that door WIDE open and I just couldn't resist!

    LOL.  Indeed I did.

Just make sure you don't ask anyone to follow you through it.

I have no fear of being in the hotseat, I just want to know when I am and why.  Of course we always try never to be rude, abusive, or attacking but its hard to know how one's posts are interpreted.  I have no problem retracting or changing a post if it is offensive.  Cussing, never!  Bra talk, never!

I think you can glean from this thread that I like this forum, its members, and have a genuine concern of the happenings here.  I think if I have changed, it is from the growth in knowledge and a finer awareness of dog issues.  And what comes with that is my strong beliefs and passion for shelter dog issues.    I am vocal about issues and I am not afraid to boldly (but not being blunt) speak up and say things that goes against the majority thinking here.  Of course I am always open to adjusting my beliefs if presented with compelling information.  Members here are very strong in their own beliefs and it is hard to change.  Some characterize me as being argument, as opposing for opposing sake, and the infamous line…its all about you.  Other actually express an appreciation to what I say.

No, I have not changed from when I started, one year ago.  What has changed are the members who respond to my post and the members I respond to.  For example, I did not know Probe1957 existed on this forum until my 8th month here, 9th month for Xerxes.  Don’t you think that’s enough of an explanation for a perceived change?.  Now I am sure I am going to get a complaint for that last sentence.

Bra talk?  I missed the Bra talk?  Or was it Bar talk I missed?   Either way, Billy?  I know you must have been involved.  Next time please be considerate and PM me so I don't miss those discussions.

I'm going to hop over to the other forum and see if I can find him and give him a piece of my mind!

    Thank you.

Bra talk is over in NDR.  I think it's up to 9 pages right now.  I think that I titled it "Starting a new club."  It's all inclusive & everyone is invited to join.  We're having fun over in our new "clubhouse" so feel free to stop by.

Thus far the only purpose this thread has served for me,is to alert me of another doggy forum(was this the point of starting this thread???),and that some people need to perhaps spend more time with their dogs instead of sweating on the why's,when's and wherefore's of an internet forum...Stick out tongue

There are more than a couple dog forums out there that were started from old Idog people.  They are probably all pretty good. But realistically...the same people follow the same people all around.  They kind of end up being the same anyway.

I find it kind of funny that over the last years..that a few of them are ones that were pretty much thrown off I dog years back for one reason or another...I'm sure they are no different over there than they were here.

You are BANG on Dyan. Unfortunately a lot (most) of people on idog and other sites are somewhat addicted to the 'forum' experience. LOL On leaving they are definately going to search out and join another forum and in some cases start their own. Friendships and followings are established on each forum and it makes sense that certain people will follow those they enjoy being associated with and certain people will encourage their friends to join them on their new forum of choice. I have seen it happen before and I suspect it will happen in the furture. Is it a big deal to this forum? I don't think so. We have such a large membership of diverse and interesting people that any void created by an exodus would be temporary and for the most part unnoticed. We have had a number very active members leave perminantly and temporarily. We have posted our disappointment and encouragement to reconsider. Some go, some stay, some come back. Did the board dramatically change with their absence? No. So for me anyways, it's no big deal. I do not come here just to talk to a few certain people. I do not seek advice or opinion from a group of handpicked individuals. I am as interested in the opinions and experiences of those with double diget post counts as I am in those with thousands - maybe even more, because they are usually fresh and without agenda. If people feel idog is no longer a place they feel comfortable, valued or in-step with, I think it is in everyones best interest that they move on as it only fills the board with negativity and over shadows the enjoyment and value of sharing our opinions and experiences as dog owners.

I don't know that I would say that. Two were started by people who thought this forum was changing and they felt it wouldn't be the same. They are two very successful forums and those are the ones I've spoken of previously. Many members here still use them and ours and some members much missed by me are there only because of the behavior that goes on here and those people were never suspended/banned.

You know what,,, if you are referring to me Jaime, I need to say something.   When you wrote this it made m look back to what I originally said...and I read something I wrote that I didn't mean.   Its true that a few of the new forums were started by former I doggers (and they are good forums)... and as far as I know, none of them were removed from Idog.   I actually meant to say that some of the people that are on them were thrown off Idog...or at least left in a rush of anger.  I didn't mean that the ones that started those boards were in trouble here...and I apologize if anyone thought that is what I was saying.  I am on one of those boards a lot...and love the people there ans sure don't want to be saying anything that could be taken wrong about them!

    • Gold Top Dog

It was in reply to your post. I just wanted to make sure it was known that those who did create the two other forums were not in trouble here thus reason they created their forums...all is well

I admit to posting or lurking on the forums Jaime mentioned, and I recently joined Chaz, too.  A friend that I occasionally work with had mentioned it to me when I told her to join idog - she joined here, and I joined there.  I must admit that during the last few weeks, until Jaime restored a bit of sanity here, it was a welcome respite to have somewhere else to go where I could post and not feel that every word was being micro-scrutinized for the sole purpose of issuing red ink.  I told a few people where they could find me but I certainly never told anyone to stop posting here.I was glad to see a few familiar faces in other places, though.  I intend to keep posting on all my boards, and I hope everyone else will do the same.   I think this thread is the moral equivalent of always pressing the "report" button on people you don't agree with.  Let it go.
