Questions About New TOS? Post Here.

DPU, I was working on answering your questions, too. I started working backwards, so I'm sorry it's taken so long. I threw my back out again this weekend, so I'm behind. Plus, they make me do other things here at work than play on the forum!

Regarding the restructuring, that was mentioned in the announcements, which can be found in NDR and General Chat.

The moderators have guidelines to follow - the TOS. They were designed to try and limit subjectivity, as much as it can be. As previously stated, we Mods have a section where we can discuss forum happenings, which also helps us to be a unified team.

The CM section question was answered on the page before this one.

Does that answer all your questions, or did I miss any? Let me know.

    1.  Was there an off topic and sarcastic post that lead to this warning?

    Yes. Thank you for asking.

Mods--Why are special privilages granted to the CM section that are not granted to the rest of the board?  There was a point made earlier that the rules apply to everyone equally, so it seems that the rules *should* apply to everyone equally, no?

Sally, you make a good point.  Conversely why would those who espouse the ideals of CM be allowed to post countering opinions in other threads if they have their own section where no one can disagree with them?

Rules apply equally everywhere, i can show threads on the CM section where polite discussion toke place even when some members didnt agree with some techniques

Billy, that was answered way back on page 1.

I don't think anyone here would take exception to my saying, "I am dense."  [;)]  I don't see where the question...

Is the "How Are We Doing?" (notice the question mark) section of the forum no longer appropriately named?

    ...has been answered.

The "How Are We Doing?" section does not seem to me to be the appropriate place for "sincere polite questions."  [8|]  The "How Are We Doing?" section, seems to me, to be the place where one would post sincere and polite feedback.

I have seen a couple of posts edited, in this very thread, because a member said she wouldn't be posting as much.  I received email notification on these posts and nothing about them struck me as impolite or insincere.  In fact, to me, the member was providing feedback on how SHE THINKS you are doing.  Negative feedback, perhaps, but still feedback.  From my perspective, while you say you don't just want positive feedback, you seem to be editing posts that are anything but.  Politely and sincerely, I don't understand.

If you would prefer to have this conversation privately, as my kids would say, you have my digits.  I am not sure exactly what that means but I hope it makes me sound 20 something.  [:)]

Point taken. How are we doing? is now a place for sincere, polite questions, suggestions and feedback.

Regarding the editing of certain posts, sometimes a post is but a snippet of the larger picture. That is all that will be said on the matter.

And, you do sound young and hip.

    Not according to this.....

There are clearly different rules for this section as opposed to the rest of the board.

However, I am not interested in arguing about this with you.  Personal Champ already gave me an answer to my question.

Sorry to hear about your back injury.  I also had one because the city ordered me to cut a bush down that is located on the corner and they claimed it was obstructing traffic.  Since the citation came thru snail mail I had only one day to do the job before a $2500 per day fine kicked in.  Was out there til midnight, silly rules.

I re-read the announcments and the TOS again and the answers I was seeking was some of the planned specifics of the restructuring.  You state that there is a private room for your team to discuss issues and exchange information.  You state that the TOS is the guideline for moderators to operate and its design is reduce subjective interpretation of post.

I think the burden is still placed on me to know the moderating style of each moderator and it is in my best interest  to get to personally know them.   I will give you an example which is why I brought up the CM issue.

In the alpha thread, a new member stated she did the alpha roll often and that resulted in the dog coming to her in a submissive fashion but only after 3 or 4 COME commands.  Two members offered advise and their experience on the COME command.  I was just about to offer my experience the other day where my 6 dogs cornered an animal in my backyard and was about the rip the animal to shreds.  The dogs were in an excited state but when I gave them the COME command all 6 dogs came and marched into the house.  Just as I was about to post, I saw the two members' post were deleted and red inked.  I did not understand the editing at all.  So I did not post and was looking somewhere to post my brag.  Glad I got the opportunity here to do so.

I know I am not being clear but I see a clear difference in moderating styles and that means members are put in a postion to decide whether they post or not.

    Nicely put, DPU.

And I do hope you'll find a spot in which to post that story of yours. Mine is an inquiring mind since my terriers have gotten rather, uh, "drivey" lately.

    Maybe in Training?

Which means, you still can enjoy yourself in the CM thread but if you are not into that kind of techniques you might enjoy yourself more someplace else, Jamie should be a lawyer, she knew exactly which way to put it [8D]

There is a saying that you cannot have two captains on a ship....too many captains leads to chaos and confusion with the crew.

The same goes for here you cannot have more then one captain....the styles of each individual mod are different. What one may find offensive another may not...due to all humans being different and each person having their own differing opinions.

I  am disappointed with the broad base and vague answers I have gotten to the questions I asked.

I , also would think that we would be asked our thougts on the forum prior to rule changes.

I would like to see a poll as to if members are very happy with the forum or not.
Maybe those who run the forum should look to those who use it the most and ask them directly.

My gosh one must be very careful when typing on here for possible TOS violation...for anything could be taking wrongly...even if stated as fact...which saddens me that it has come to this.

As was stated in another thread, the CM section, and its rules, were started by the prior Admin. We are currently looking into restructuring some of the forum, this is on our list to address.

    To Personal Champ or Mods,
As a follow up, if I follow this right, it is not a TOS violation to criticize CM or his methods within the CM section.  If member do criticize within the section then they risk being banned in that section per the CM section special rule, but I believe the rule has never been enforced by past Administration and the current Administration doesn't appear to recognize this either.  Since there is a high probability that the CM section will be eliminated, being banned is moot.  In the gap time of the restructure, have you inadvertently declared open season on CM resulting in a lot of work for the moderator who has to edit?

Maybe I'm having a blonde moment - even though I'm not blonde - but I can't think of a single reason why it should be a TOS violation to criticize anybody as long as it isn't done rudely or with profanity.
