It has come to the company's attention the newly revised rules are not working towards the betterment of the forum. As always you are expected to be kind to each other and post in that manner that is civil.

I will be revising the member agreement shortly to reflect rules similar to the previous administration.

    Layne????  Is that you??????

Yes, one of us should have come and let ya'll know that the TOS have changed to be more user friendly.

How can I violate a TOS rule if I cannot read or find the TOS rules? I am in violation of rule 3. Is there a place where I can read these rules or do I just stumble upon them until I have so many I am banned?
I cannot be certain I will not repeat my TOS rule 3 violation unless I know what it is.

According post# 185, I think it can be interpretted that the TOS rules have been suspended as of 4:35 this afternoon.  If a moderator is referencing the rules, I think that is in error.  Maybe  you deserve an apology.

Dgriego- I am in agreement with DPU on this issue. You DO have a right to know what you have been called out for, so to help you in the interim, the former rules stated #3 as:

      >>Rule 3: Respect your fellow members - it's the issue, not the individual
Debating and discussion is fine. We encourage it. It's how we all learn. However,
respect your fellow members. Different posters are likely to express different
opinions, and while they may differ from yours, everyone is entitled to express
theirs freely. We will not tolerate rudeness, insults or personal attacks. Do not
disrespect, taunt, bother, bug or flame anyone, either on the forum or via private
    messages or email.<<

I would hang tight and see what the new forum rules end up being, take a peek at them and see if you are still “technically” in violation of them and if you do not believe that you are, I would pm Amstaffy (Jaime).  Jaime I am sure can answer your questions and is quite fair with regards to forum rules and forum moderation.

I totally agree with DPU & jjsmom06.  Dgriego, you are owed both an explanation & an apology for being editted under old rules.

Don't hold your breath on that apology or explanation though.  I had a post deleted last week, with no notice at all.  When I questioned the deletion of my post, it was reinstated without an explanation.  I still don't really know what happened there.

I know!![;)]  But doesn't it sound fun to say "there's a new sheriff in town?"[:D]
I just love how that statement rolls off of my tongue.

    dgriego,
What happened to make you think you violated rule #3? None of your posts have been edited, that I can see.

Jaime will be along to explain the revised rules and to deal with any issues such as this.

Is it possible that an older edit is just now finding it's way to Donna?  Maybe she's been off the forum for a few days and is just now finding out that she committed an offense?  Or maybe hasn't checked her PM's?  Please lets not automatically assume that something was done under the new TOS that no longer exist after they no longer existed, if that makes any sense.

To those who felt that we have been less than responsive, all I can do is apologize on behalf of the mod staff.  I can't answer a question if I don't know the why's of something or am not even aware that it happened until I see a question about it on the forum.  There seemed to have been a breakdown in the information sharing process on Amanda's issue.

Please remember that we are all just mortals too, and as hard as we try, we do screw up sometimes.  Just give us a chance to correct any errors that we've made and things will settle down.

The rules are similar, some are the same but were never "written". Pretty much the tone of the original forum which many of you are not familiar with.
The rules will be listed in the updated "membership agreement" I hope to have that completed today.

What about those "goals" in the Behavior & Psychology section.  The goals seems to add unclear new rules that allows for a heavy hand, minute by minute subjective moderating.  If those goals were stated at the Admin level and at the forum level rather than at the moderator and section level, I guess it would alright.

    Jamie,

Since you are revising the rules can we start the slate clean?  Can us folks who have strikes get them expunged?  IMO I think many of us were being used to set "examples” and the offenses were really borderline and very subjective.

I know I have a strike and therefore don't post much anymore.   I don't want to loose my privileges indefinitely  because someone interpret my words as rude or off topic, etc.

    So I rather retreat……… and shut down.[sm=blush.gif]

    Thanks for the consideration,

    LMS

    Dawn
You've been around and seen the way I work. All of the moderators now have the guidelines as they were presented when I started adding moderators. I am confident that they will work on those guidelines. Working to keep order on the forum does ot mean more rules or heavy handed moderating.
Of course, we've seen it in the past where personalities clash over strong opinions and that is where you'll see me stepping as in the past. I don't play favorites or hold grudges and I'm sure our moderators won't either. As we work forward we'll work together.

I won't say we'll whipe slates clean but everyone has an opportunity to start fresh moving forward. The only thing I've seen that needed attention really was a little SPAM this morning..
