I am not sure if this is the right place to ask this question, but I will ask.  If it needs to be moved, I understand.
 
How long should a ticket remain open?  If the ticket is deemed inappropriate or without cause for concern, shouldn't a comment be given to the "ticketer?"

I agree what a few other members said about some others hiding behind the cloak of Bluntness. That, and personally or incorrectly intrepreting posts, are things that everyone should work on.

Xerxes, sometimes we forget to "close" a ticket, even if we've resolved the issue - especially so if we dealt with it via PM. Responding better to tickets is an issue that we (the Mod team) have just discussed.

I think a lot of people would like this, Kate.  I just think that right now they're a little hesitant to start or participate in a hot topic lest someone get their knickers all in a twist about something. []

It will not be the policy of the Moderation team to PM members with informal suggestions for post edits.

Under the new TOS we are no longer sending informal requests.  The rules are pretty darned clear and we are NOT babysitters who should need to ask you to pull your fingers back out of the fire.  WE are being more consistent in what we edit and when and take the severity of a strike under consideration.
 
I can't answer your question about someone being out to get you, but I will say your attitude *could* be setting you up for a fall.  PERSONAL opinion only.
 
This thread is supposed to be a place to ask questions about the new TOS, not a place to moan, groan and complain about what big meanies we all are.  I've seen few questions and a whole heck of a lot of moaning, groaning and complaining.

Well, all these years until the present administration took the reins, I never had, or initiated, a ticket, and I don't really understand what they are and how they work.  Could you explain it?

In the lower right-hand corner of every post is a "Report" link. If you click that it will take you to the screen to fill out a ticket, and the ticket will be assigned to a mod of the section the post is in.

Joyce, there is now a sticky in NDR regarding this, and I'd love your input.

I have been a member here for quite a while.  And honestly, this is not the norm.  I haven't seen a lot of rude behavior or bluntness that should seriously hurt someone's feeling?  Yeah it does happen here and there but it is far from the NORM and such a non issue IMO.

 
I agree that this is not the norm...that it happens here or there...but don't you think it should not happen at all???  I do!
This is an adult message forum about something we all love...dogs. There is no reason in the world to hurt someones feelings in discussing them.  Of course we're not going to have the same ideas on what to feed them..how to train them.. or even where to get them...but why in the world would we have to hurt any persons feeling while giving your opinion?
Personally,,, I don't think I like the word blunt.  I think its kind of used as an excuse..its an ugly word. 
In a nice discussion...why can't we talk about giving an honest opinion... not a blunt or abrupt opinion?
If I were having a discussion in person...I would never try to be abrupt, I would always be nice...whether I agreed with the person or not.
While we would all like the whole world to agree with us on what we say... I don't think any of us would feel hurt that people do not agree all of the time. However... if people disagree in a way that is rude or cutting...the we get hurt. THAT is what I think we all need to be careful of.
 

I also think that a lot of the problems come up when someone posts a question and starts getting answers or opinions.  Then the next people come and instead of responding to the original question they comment on the response someone made that they don't agree with.  Why can't posts be made with our own opinions and ideas without an analysis of why the previous post was right or wrong?

Because this is a message  board with all different personailities and people for all over the world can join too.  You do not know that these same people wouldn't speak their mind in person the same way, just becasue you wouldn't.    In person you can choose to speak to them again or never again - it is the same here.  You can ignore or you can choose to comment.  That is just the way it is I am afraid.

I don't know, that is the way conversation evolves.  And that is what people tend to do on chats and message boards.  Conversations change as the detail, disagreement, agreement etc evolve too.

Again, I really could care less myself if someone wants to be nasty to me.  I can comment or I may not - but it is my choice on a message board or in a person to person conversation.  Actually, I dont' think I have that choice here any longer without a hand slap![:-]
