Getting A Real Life...

I disagree with that 100% and I don't think idog would agree either...Spending more time playing with your dogs will make for you buying more things for your dogs...

There are many who may take a personal affront because whent they look in the mirror may see something they aren't exactly happy with.

Yeah, that's it.  I see myself.  I spend 5 hours a day here??? Nope.  I shouldn't have to explain myself to anyone.  But, I do work full time, run a more than part time pet sitting business myself and do many other things as well with Willow.
Just because I find this offensive doesn't mean I saw myself in it.

Explain to me how allowing someone to basically say, hey all you people who sit around all day doing nothing but looking at this forum, why don't you go out and get a life is polite, not rude, etc.

Anne has a post in this section about how Kelly called her abrasive.  How can she think this is OK, yet any comment Anne made was abrasive.  I don't get it, I must be missing something here.

    1. Volunteer. Volunteering is a wonderful way to help out homeless dogs, or the less fortunate.

This implies the targets of this post do not volunteer or help the less fortunate.

    2. Get a job. Getting a job is not only a way to meet new people, but it will pay you, this is a wonderful bonus.

Implies the people involved in bickering do not have jobs.

    3. Walk/train your dogs. Walking and training your dogs will keep them from becoming bored and ill mannered. Spending more time with your dog will also give you better things to talk about when you do have an extra 10 min. to spare on idog.

Implies said people do not train their dogs.

    4. Make friends. Making new friends is a wonderful way to SOCIALIZE yourself.. and make you a more valuable member of the community.

Implies that said people are poorly socialized,  lack friends, and are not acceptably valuable members of he community.

    5. Get a hobby. Hobbies are wonderful, they teach you new skills and allow you to focus your energy into something productive.

Implies said people have nothing better to do with their time than sit in front of the computer and do unproductive things.

To break it down:  The people involved in the latest bickering do not help the less fortunate, are unemployed, do not train their dogs, have poor social skills and are not valuable members of idog, and do not spend their time productively.

This post was incredibly rude and hostile, and rather than rise above the fighting, the OP jumped right into the muck.  Now, I don't mind that because intensity doesn't bother me, but it is strikingly unfair to allow it when other, much less hostile posts get red inked around the forum.  I'd like to see this post stay, and have consistent standards applied across idog.

And lord, why do I always do this?  I have a terrible case of "stick my nose in."  [sm=blah2.gif]

Why were you checking to see if it was reopened?

One might, I guess, ask you the same question.  Perhaps both of us need to get a life?  [;)]

I agree that saying these words "Get A Life" is not exactly friendly...  But the content is not so bad.  A better wording could have been...There are other productive things to do rather than bicker....

With all due respect.. I think it is all in how one decides to take it. I WAS INVOLVED IN NEEDLESS BICKERING YERSTERDAY, so if it was directed at anyone here,  I would be one of the main offenders... and yet I took it as yet another “hey everyone.. lets knock this needless, nonproductive bickering off”.

I will step up and admit I'm a stay at home mom, and the internet gives me "adult" interactions in between playing barbies and doing laundry.  I say it loud, I say it proud: I HAVE NO LIFE!

My dog likes it, though.  [sm=lol.gif]

That's not what was said. The post was referring to those on the forum who are arguing all the time, which there has been FAR TOO MUCH of recently, not the general dog.com population. It wasn't even referring to people who do spend hours on here...just those who spend those hours concentrating on the negative.

I wasn't looking Billy.  As soon as you posted I got a notification in my e-mail because this is a thread I had previously posted on.  And, you didn't answer the question.

This is all just more of the same old, same old. . .

Maybe a more appropriate, less inflammatory, title would have been "Things to do instead of bickering." [sm=2cents.gif]

You REALLY want to know, Lori?  I thought the question was rhetorical.

Okay, someone emailed me asking my opinion on whether the thread deserved to be closed so, I went to look.  I saw the thread was open.  Maybe it was never closed.  I really don't know.  Glenda's comment led me to believe it was closed then reopened.

    Is that satisfactory, Lori?

I shouldn't have to explain myself to anyone.

Yet, interestingly enough, you seem to think I should explain myself to you.

Interesting.  You know this admin might as well get used to the unwelcoming and uncomfortable feelings that go on here.

And, Billy, you didn't need to explain to me.  I already knew what you were doing.  You saw it bothered me and yet you still just had to start it up again.  Because this is much more interesting for you than it just being left alone, right?

It is so funny that anyone can be so sensetive to what any other person writes either directly,or indirectly about them.Even better is the fact that no one on here really knows eachother, except for maybe a few exceptions, and you all STILL get offended by posts...

I think the OP really does have something here...lol
