    Missouri 75 - GSP's in need!!!!

I was forwarded a portion of this from my GSPs' breeder.  Not much in the news about this yet but I wanted to get as much info out there as I could.  The breeder of these poor babies set the whole place on fire!!!!!

"I hope everyone (two legged and four legged) is well!   We are good here.   Just hoping the ground either stays frozen or it warms up soon - can not take the mud!

I wanted to let you know that there were 75 GSPs (German Shorthair Pointers) taken into rescue last week from a single kennel in Missouri

There is also a link with some information about the dogs on the German Shorthair Pointer Club of Americans webpage - http://www.gspca.org/Rescue/missouri75.html
A volunteer has set up this website - http://web.me.com/msalyers/GSP_Rescue/Home.html
The rescue that has them is:  http://www.midwestpaws.com/
The rescue that has them needs help with donations of money, food, toys and crates as well as foster homes.  There are several auctions (with more to come) listed on eBay that will benefit these dogs.   Purina has donated food as well as several other companies offering varying amounts of support.    I have not seen anything about the dogs on the news or outside of the GSP community so I assume most of you were probably unaware.
I'm not asking anything of you, if you choose to help that's a private decision.   I just wanted to help spread the word about these dogs."

Thanks so much for posting this info.  Horrible, I only watched the first video, that just about broke my heart.

My heart is breaking for those dogs!

I'm so glad that there are options listed for those, like me, that want to help in some way.

Yes, even a small donation can help when the rescue is dealing with this many dogs.

I have an update to crosspost from my GSP forum.  Good news for these dogs.

First things first, new photos have been posted.  :-)    http://web.me.com/msalyers/GSP_Rescue/Home.html

Nine GSPs left MO yesterday morning, headed for TX. The group stopped for the night in Arkansas, where two will remain for foster care. I’ll send updates and photos as they arrive.

Seven GSPs will be transported this coming Thursday night, into Saturday morning, to our Eastern GSP Rescue Group and the Mid-Atlantic GSP Rescue. We expected more, but there have been so many applications locally in MO, there isn’t a need to transport more dogs at this time.

The media has been wonderful in providing coverage, but not necessarily in getting the facts straight. For example, they showed up to shoot some video and do some interviews. The gals with Midwest PAWS said they’d be accepting adoption applications over the weekend, at the adoption center/kennel. Well, the reporter seemed to misunderstand, so it was broadcast that they were having an adoption event on Saturday, so close to 300 people showed up, expecting to take a dog home with them. It became a little difficult to explain the process of adoption to everyone, but with a lot of volunteer help, they managed to control the crowd, and control expectations.  :-)

The number of qualified adoption applications has been overwhelming, so it looks like most of these deserving GSPs will find loving homes, not too far from their current foster homes.

    Great news all around.
