The power and strength of Rescue update 01-14-09

We all like happy endings here is a link with update and pictures of a beautiful rescued boy

This is a wonderful story about the power of rescue.  I am copying a post from another group w/permission.

Subject: RE: Newf on Chain -  1st post Jan 1

It looks like this poor dog has some people looking out for him. One
rescue has offered to pay for all his vetting, transportation and
training costs. I think he is in Whitehorse which is as far north as
you can get without ending up in Alaska.

It's even more disturbing when you see this update and photo;s:

They are going to try to keep the dog in BC and have a tentative
foster home set up but it's not the best situation (the woman has
    other dogs)

Hopefully he's out of there sooner than later.

    I will keep you updated.

    Thanks

    I received this post today

A friend just emailed me with the following info...such great news!

The posts are out of order but you'll get the idea:)

    hi friends of Tyson,
this beautiful boy kept on a chain in Yukon for 4 years has been
rescued! read about the surrender below.
thanks to everyone out there who contributed in energy and time to
create an awareness of the hell this dog was living and who
connected continuously with each other to solve this huge
challenge. this was no small feat.

i had the wonderful opportunity to meet Jan O, Pres. of Better Life
Dog Rescue, on the phone yesterday. Jan was instrumental in not
only finding a foster home in Vancouver, but an adoptive home that
is waiting to take Diesel (called Tyson on the craigslist so that
the owners mite not come back on our efforts and complicate things).
Diesel is on an Air North flight this morning, arriving Vancouver
Airport where Jan will pick him up.
bless all the animal rescuers. Diesel will smile again.

To Robyn and husband: thank you for going in to get this lovely boy,
i'm sure he didn't smell very good, but will soon.
    Sincerely,
    Rose

Oh I just knew it. I'm picking him up tomorrow at 11:30, then taking
him to the beginning of his new life. Oh joy!
Fostering...the love is in the goodbye.

You are going to love Diesel! He's such a big sweetie!

We decided to pick him up tonight and we just got home with him.
We've decided to leave tonight, anyway. It's warmer than tomorrow
morning will be, and the road will be safer. Terry Cumming is
letting us stop at his house to use his yard for Diesel to do his
thing before he flies and before we put him in the crate.

Diesel was so excited to get into the truck my husband could barely
hold him back---so get ready! But before Diesel saw the truck he
wasn't pulling too hard on the leash, so that's good, too.
My husband got into the back with Diesel when we got home and spent
about a half hour petting him. He said Diesel couldn't get enough
and was trying to snuggle up in my husband's lap. He's surely going
to be a love muffin like Elizabeth suspected.

I can't wait for Diesel to get surrounded by all the dog lovers down
your way. I hope his life will be filled to overflowing with joy and
    love from now on...

Well, gotta go! We're off. Let's hope Diesel has a safe and
    uneventful flight to freedom.

He looks like a Newfie, but CL says Saint Berneard/Bernese Mt.! He is a doll, and I'm glad he's off to a foster home! WOW!

Yeah he looks like a newfie to me too but what a beautiful baby he is .   I am so glad to see a good story come out of this.
