How about a thread where we all list some of the dogs at our local shelters or on the adoption sites? Maybe someone will see our idea of a great family dog and adopt one of them before their time is up. Please, no rescues here - after all, they are already safe. Let's save this one for the dogs that are really running out of time this holiday season.

If you've been thinking of that second dog, now's the time to go and meet one of these poor dogs that have no loving home. For gosh sake, don't get a Christmas puppy without looking at these guys first...

Here's my first pick, because he looks just like one of the dogs that just graduated my therapy dog class, and I kinda like his face.

She'd be perfect for my Gram....but her time is up tomarrow, and I still haven't talked to her about it yet(i'm spending the week with her after Christmas thou!). *sigh* A senior, over populated-breed, and I'm 45mins away, and can't help *goes off to cry*

Not sure if this will link up correctly. This is how San Antonio lists their animals for adoption at the kill shelter run by the city. Dogs usually have seven days.

please note the number of dogs, including puppies available and this is not an unusual situation for this facility. It's horribly sad and most never find homes.

There is no way I could pick out just one dog to link. They all deserve a chance.
