Roscoe
Roscoe
is a 2 year neutered male Bloodhound/Coonhound mix weighing about 55
lbs and resplendent in red speckled coat and drooping ears. This soft
spoken, mannerly southern gentleman with a comfortable and reassuring
presence is the epitome of the larger Hound's general good humour and
sweet nature. He is presently in foster care with a family of four
people, several dogs of both genders as well as an assortment of rescue
cats. He is certainly enjoying all the attention he is receiving from
his foster family and is content to live and let live as far as the
other animals are concerned, happy with his routine and the comforts of
a home. Roscoe presents quite a memorable picture up here in the
"North" and he is becoming accustomed to heads turning and eyes popping
wherever he goes. Those familiar with the larger Hound breeds will know
that they hold the distinction of being the most gentle, loving and
dependable of family pets - tolerant of children, non-threatening and
extremely sociable. Roscoe is no exception and any family would be
privileged to have him as a member. If your family would like to show
Roscoe some Northern hospitality and, perhaps offer him a "forever"
home, please call us at (905) 939 - 2692
Sacha
Sacha
is a 2 year neutered 14 lb male Shih-Tsu looking great in with his new
Summer cut and posing prettily for the camera. This delightful little
boy has a vitality and zest for life that is contagious and his up-beat
and expansive personality endears him to all he meets. His amazing
capacity for love and affection qualifies him as a bona fide companion
and all round good dog, deserving of the best of human care and
attention in return. He loves to go for walks and is as enthusiastic
about this activity as any other he can share with his two-legged
friends. His leash manners are excellent too making "walkies" a
pleasant, shared experience. Sacha is also good with other dogs of both
genders and has no problem with sharing and playing nicely with his
pals. He does seem to be more than a little interested in "Opus" our
resident cat and is quite prepared to give chase - with an element of
glee and happy abandon rather than a desire to inflict harm. In any
case a home without a cat might be a wise choice. Since Sacha is
obviously very much a people dog who thrives on giving expression to
all the wonderful qualities that define his unique personality, he
needs a home where folk have time to appreciate him. No young children
due to his smaller size and vulnerability. For more info on Sacha call
us at (905) 939 - 2692
Scout
Scout
is a 1 year neutered male pocket sized Jack Russell Terrier mix who is
enjoying his new life in a caring foster home. He came into our rescue
programme as a very frightened little boy who's experience with people
during his short life had been negative and unsettling. His foster
family are gradually building up his trust and he is very eager to make
friends when he feels safe. To his credit - even when he first came to
us and also during vetting - he never tried to bit or nip, his fear
manifested itself with Scout just freezing because he was afraid of
doing the wrong thing. As you can see in the pic, he is now willing to
sit on his foster mom's lap and is learning to play with his "big
brother: who is a senior Brittany Spaniel. There are also two little
girls in his foster home who know to be quiet and gentle with him. The
cat is his special friend and they have formed quite a bond which is
heart-warming and sweet. If you can offer little Scout a quiet home and
have the patience to let him adjust in his own time, he would be a
rewarding and loyal friend and companion, grateful for the chance of a
"forever" home and the new life he so richly deserves. Please call us
at" (905) 939 - 2692. No young children due to his smaller size and
vulnerability.
Tiffany
Tiffany
is a 4 year spayed small female Shih-Tsu weighing 12 lbs with soft
white and gold coat and eyes to melt the coldest heart. This little
girl came to us quite reserved and timid but has warmed up in a very
short time to blossom into the affectionate and friendly pup we are
gradually getting to know. It is indeed a pleasure watching her
personality emerge like a beautiful butterfly from a chrysalis as she
begins to give us her trust and friendship. Because of her somewhat
timid nature she would do well in a home with another small dog to act
as a role modal and give her the confidence she needs to adapt to her
new surroundings. She is happy to be with other small dogs and is fine
with cats. She would do well in a fairly quiet environment in a home
where someone had lots of time to enjoy her company. Tiffany's special
attributes include her sweet nature, small size and adaptability to
different life-styles - either town or country - as long as someone was
committed to giving her the time and attention perhaps she has never
had. It is so sad when helpless animals are discarded for whatever
reason, but especially so when they are small and vulnerable. Many
compassionate dog lovers are willing and able to provide loving, caring
and safe homes for these fur-babies. Tiffany is hoping that someone
answering that description will want to give her a "forever" home and
treat her like a little princess. It could be you!! Please call us at:
(905) 939 - 2692. No young children due to her smaller size and
vulnerability.
Ruby
Ruby
is a small 3 year red and white spayed female Beagle who's sad
circumstances have brought her into our rescue programme. Her mum is
very ill in hospital and is no longer able to take care of the little
dog who meant so much to her. For her sake and piece of mind, as well
as for Ruby's future happiness, the search is on for a Beagle loving
family to assume the role of caregiver and friend. Little Ruby has only
known kindness and love and she is a sweet-natured loving girl who
demonstrates her affection with tail wags and soft kisses. She is kind
to children, as she demonstrates with her special friends,
well-mannered with other dogs and shows the usual Beagle
characteristics of fortitude and forbearance. She would be content to
share a home with another dog as long as she got her share of the
attention she needs from her human friends, and is fine with cats. She
loves to walk and would be a great companion for those excursions to
the park where she would, without doubt, make many friends with her
good looks, gentle demeanor and beagle charm. Ruby will enrich and
enliven the lives of those who are fortunate enough to become her new
family. She will bewitch and beguile her way into the affections of all
those she meets - those are her special qualities and she is waiting to
offer them to you. For additional info on Ruby please call her at:
(905) 939 - 2692 We will be more than happy to pass on messages.
Rye and Jude
Rye
and Jude are brothers from the same mother but a year apart in age. Rye
is 4 years old and Jude is only 3. Both are neutered males who are a
mid-sized Shepherd Labrador mix. They have come into our rescue due to
a young child and a new baby in their family having allergic reactions
to them and they need to be re-homed on Doctors orders. They have been
loved and well socialized family pets, gentle with young children and
well behaved in the home. Their good dispositions have been very much
in evidence here as both boys are wonderful with us as well as the
other dogs in our facility. Neither has a dominant nature and don't
engage in sibling rivalry or covert each other's food or toys. I guess
they could be poster boys for harmonious living and a shining example
to feuding families! Of course Rye and Jude would prefer to stay
together and we also harbour the dream of seeing them adopted into the
same home. However, because it is not always possible to place two
larger dogs together, we will also consider separating them to be
adopted to excellent homes where each gets lots of love and attention.
Children in the home would be a plus as both dogs enjoy interacting
with little tykes and joining in their games or just watching from the
sidelines to make sure all is well. To find out more about Rye and Jude
please call us at: (905) 939 - 2692 and ask for them by name - they
eagerly await your call.
Foster and Cooper
Meet
Foster and Cooper. Foster is a Boxer/Shepherd mix, and Cooper is a
Beagle/Coonhound mix. They are both approx 10 weeks old and have been
together since they were abandoned at 4 weeks of age. Foster is the
more outgoing of the two and has progressed farther with his
housetraining, but both dogs are very energetic and like to do what
puppies do best, play and sleep. Cooper is the quiet one and loves to
cuddle. When they arrived at the rescue, both pups were skin and bones
and in ill-health, but while in their foster home they have responded
very well to plenty of good food and TLC. They love their foster mom
and follow her everywhere. These dogs are best buddies in a classic
case of “you and me against the world”, and are quite happy
sharing their crate. It would be ideal if they could find a home
together, but they can be adopted separately; in either case, they
would be well-suited to an active environment with a family that can
dedicate the time and effort that a new puppy needs. These pups are a
courtesy listing and for more info on them please call Lisa at: (905)

Ripley
Ripley
is a 4 year neutered male Beagle/Husky weighing 25 lbs. Believe it or
not this unusual looking pooch defies accurate description as to
lineage so we can only hazard a guess as to where he inherited his
looks. His coat is short but quite dense and very soft and he has the
most beautiful blue eyes not often seen in the smaller mixed breeds. He
would certainly be a conversation piece in the park, or in any public
setting, with speculation abounding as to his origins and perhaps
requests for finding a dog as unusual and as nice as Ripley. Although
his appearance generates interest it is actually Ripley himself who
stands for the most sought after qualities in a dog. He is well behaved
both inside the home and outside. His leash manners are great and he is
a good listener willing to please and to learn new things. He is
wonderful with other dogs as well as children and cats and he displays
a well rounded personality, neither dominant nor timid. He loves to
play but can enjoy quiet times when appropriate, taking his cue from
the dogs or people around him, his adaptability making him popular
wherever he goes. Perhaps you have been searching for a medium sized
dog as a companion. Dare to be different with Ripley as your new
friend. For more info on his call us at: (905) 939 - 2692.
Samson
Samson
is a 4 year neutered male Pug with an identity crisis. He looks like a
Pug but since he is overly large for the breed it is evident that the
influence of another breed has helped shape his character and size. To
be honest, several of his pounds are excess baggage which need to be
shed with the aid of walks and fewer treats. He is a handsome boy,
though, with his gold and white coat and cute features and he would be
more than willing to spend extra time in the park or on country trails
in order to stream-line his figure. This calm, good-natured guy is an
absolute treat to walk on leash and we seem to be forever checking to
make sure he is actually still attached! He is not vocal either,
although we are sure he has sad stories to tell us about his
experiences prior to coming to our rescue. He is just a placid, quiet
little dog who holds a glimmer of hope that his "forever" home and
family are out there somewhere waiting for him to make it complete. He
is good with other dogs and avoids our pesky cat who would like nothing
better than to get a reaction from him - Samson is far too smart to
play along. An ideal home for Samson would be one where he would
receive the attention, affection and time commitment he so badly needs
and deserves. If you can offer him a loving home where his gentle,
warmhearted nature will be appreciated and nurtured, please call us at:
(905) 939 2692 we will pass on any great offers to little Samson and
put the gleam of hope back into his eyes.
Danny
Danny
is a 3 year neutered male Belgian Sheepdog/ Collie mix weighing 75 lbs
- a beautiful combo of herding breeds with an intelligent expression
and striking appearance. In contrast to the usual high energy displayed
by some of the working dogs Danny is quite a calm boy who would be
content to watch his flock instead of giving chase. He enjoys his walks
and is well-mannered on leash, not given to dragging, pulling or
otherwise throwing his weight around. He came to us with his lovely
coat somewhat neglected and has endured with stoic resolve our grooming
sessions to remove dead hair. We believe he might actually be enjoying
the attention now as it has become a pleasure to him to receive so much
attention. His friendly nature and maturity equips him to be an ideal
family dog where he would be considered a family member with all the
privileges that go with being loved and wanted. He is super with other
dogs and has little interest in Opus our pesky cat's endeavors to
incite him to the usual canine reaction of frenzied fixation. Danny
would readily adapt to town or country living providing his exercise
requirements are met as well as his desire for humane companionship. If
you think that Danny would fit into and enhance your life-style please
call us at (905) 939 - 2692 for an appointment to meet him.
Zelda
Zelda
is a 4 year spayed female Siberian Husky with beautiful expressive blue
eyes and a sweet disposition. She is in our rescue programme because
her family's circumstances have changed and they are moving to a "no
dogs" condo. Zelda is confused by her homeless state and her new
situation surrounded by strangers. However, she is doing her best to
fit in and seems to be accepting her change of fortune with stoicism
and good grace. Doubless she was a very good dog in the years she spent
with her previous family as she conducts herself with poise and
decorum. She is wonderful with other dogs and even tolerates Opus our
resident cat who lives to reduce, even the most indifferent of dogs, to
a state of reckless frenzy. We are finding her to be well mannered on
leash, although she does like to walk ahead like most Huskies. To this
end we use a flexi-leash and she is happy to stay within its confines.
She would do very well in a Husky lovin' home, possibly with another
dog of either gender - not necessarily a Husky - or with folk who have
the time to spend with her. If you enjoy the outdoors and are seeking a
companion with similar interests with whom to spend quality time, Zelda
is interested in meeting you. Call her at: (905) 939 - 2692.
Diamond
Diamond
is a 6 month neutered male Border Collie/Setter sporting a shiny black
medium coat with white markings, a pretty boy who will mature into a
handsome adult dog of medium size. Diamonds are a girls best friend and
dogs are man's best friend so obviously this guy has it all! His value
is in his sweet and gentle nature and his willingness to please, as
well as his innate intelligence. Although he is still a puppy Diamond
displays the relative calmness of a more mature dog. Perhaps hardships
or abandonment in his young life have caused him to grow up quickly and
develop coping skills beyond his years. Nevertheless, he is entitled to
enjoy his puppy-hood so our wish is for him to find a family with lots
of time to devote to his puppy needs. He is super with other dogs,
although he is nervous around large, dominant dogs. He is happiest with
friendly, submissive dogs like himself, males or females. He has met
Opus, our resident feline and was content to observe him from a safe
distance and give him a wide berth as Opus gave him his usual
disdainful and threatening glare reserved for all those of a lesser
species. The family who is fortunate enough to welcome Diamond into
their home will discover the true value of a friend who is loyal,
non-judgmental, forgiving and loving. For more info on this beautiful
pup call us at: (905) 939 - 2692.
Toto
Toto
is a 3 year neutered male Tibetan Spaniel who came into our rescue as a
very traumatized little dog who's trust in people had been badly shaken
by neglect and abandonment. His journey from those days to the present,
where he is being fostered in a loving home environment, has restored
his trust and confidence and he is now a happy, well adjusted little
guy ready to continue on to his "forever" home. His foster mum works at
a vet clinic and Toto is a popular visitor to the clinic where he is
treated like royalty. Of course, the Tibetan Spaniels rich history can
be traced back to many royal and famous admirers of the breed. They
have been loved, cosseted and valued through the centuries for their
faithful, devoted companionship and beauty. As you can see little Toto
has inherited the physical attributes of his forebears and we know that
the other fine qualities have been rekindled with the love and care he
has received. He is fine with other dogs and cats and would happily
share a home with either or both. He would be best suited to a home
where he can continue to blossom with a nurturing and patient family
that can offer him the security and love he so richly deserves. No
young children due to his smaller size and vulnerability. For more info
on little Toto you can reach us at (905) 939 - 2692.

Rikka
Rikka
is a wonderful 3-4 year old Husky/Terrier cross. She is a people
oriented dog who would prefer to be the only dog in a household as she
isn’t fond of sharing attention with other canines. Unique and
charming, Rikka would love someone who will enjoy play time and cuddle
time in equal measures and would appreciate her unique qualities.

Tahoe
Tahoe
spent the first months of his life in the shelter where he was born,
living in a crate with little human affection. This, however, has had
no negative impact on his amazing good nature. Tahoe is a playful,
entertaining and affectionate young guy who gets along with pretty much
every canine and human he’s met. He loves affection and play and
has been learning his house manners very nicely. As a young guy, he
would do well in an active home with the time and energy to devote to a
young dog.
