    Need to stop this "artist"

I am not one to spread chain letters but I think iDoggers will want to sign this petition, there is a ton on the internet about and here is a Youtube

    Here's the email I got

    "Hi!
I know I always ask alot of you when it comes to the animal babies, but
this case truly turned my stomach and all you have to do is sign an
online petition to stop this man calling himself an artist.

The story can be verified at Snopes, but I warn you that they show
PICTURES that are HORRIFYING.  Snopes has a lot of background on this
and I will leave it up to you to read it as it's too long to print here.
There are a few accounts of the story; however, all are bad.

A man named Guillarmo Vargas tied a dog to a wall in an art gallery with
NO FOOD, NO WATER, NO BLANKET, and let all the art patrons watch as this
dog slowly STARVED TO DEATH.  This was supposed to make a political
    statement.

Please, please, go to www.petitiononline.com and ask that Vargas be
banned from exhibiting in the Bienal Centroamerica 2008 in Honduras.
You will find the link on the right hand side of their home page.
Please send this on to others. Over a million people have already signed
    it.

You don't have to be a dog fanatic like I am to recognize cruelty in its
    simplest form."

as a moderator I know this belongs in Advocacy but I want to get some attention to it - I'll move it soon

Its a scam, its pretty old. The dog was already malnourished and found on the street like that. The artist is trying to make a point that how come nobody cared when it was running wild in the streets but now people care since they think it was human inflicted. He's just trying to prove a point

he may have "found" the dog like that- but really, it's incredibly abusive to tie the dog up so it couldn't possibly go forage and then not feed it. The man should be tarred and feathered. As should all the patrons of the museum who didn't cut the roap and take the dog out of there.

He was tied up for like 24 hours and he was fed, LOL

This happened in 2007, WWF looked into it along with Muratella's dog pound and the dog was found to be taken care of. However that hasnt stoppped the many homeless, abused and malnourished pets in 3rd world countires

What is the 'scam' about - I am usually pretty careful about this sort of thing (spreading untruths) I didn't check Snopes but a quick search seemed to verify that he did indeed starve a dog in the name of art

    Apologies if it isn't true

I will move it to advocacy now as I don't want too much of a ruckus

regardless of whether it was 'just' 24 hrs it seems pretty cruel to me to starve a starving dog!

The "scam" was to make peopel wake up and pay attention to homeless and abused dogs. He was trying to make a point that he had seen this dog running the streets for weeks along with many others and nobody cared to do a thing about it when the dog was homeless. He is trying to show people that if they cared so much they would have done something while it was roaming the streets.

Granted this was not in the US and I dont think this dog would have been left to die in the US. AC or the Humane Society woulda picked it up but thats not the case for all countries
