So who still doesn't get it??? The liberal party win in Ontario is a huge blow to everyone with pets!! Ontario has the potential to be exploited as a major victory for the AR agenda!! Ontario was a major battle over the right to own pets. Ontario is about BSL.
The AR agenda encompasses a lot more than just BSL. The Animal Rights Movement includes Breed Specific Legislation, Mandatory Spay/Neuter, Mandatory Microchipping, Pet Limit Laws, Guardianship Laws and more. The Animal Rights Movement included the PAWS bill and before that the Puppy Protection Act. The PAWS bill, or a revamp of it will undoubtedly return!! I seriously doubt it will be any better. Everyone needs to be involved in the fight to own pets!!
The reason we lost in Ontario is because word was not sufficiently out. Too many people hadn't heard about My Dog Votes!! Everyone needs to help get the message out!! You need to understand what the AR agenda is and how they operate. You need to understand the underlying purpose to the legislation proposed by AR. You need to understand the facts of why those laws do not work! Everyone needs to reach out to everyone they know!! Talking about it endlessly on the forums and nowhere else is not sufficient. Most pet owners are not on the forums, they are not at the training clubs. Talk to your neighbors, talk to your friends, talk to your family. Talk to your vets, talk to your groomer, talk to the clerks at the pet store. Talk to people at the parks. Make up flyers and pamphlets and circulate them all over town. Post them at the vets offices. Post them at the pet stores. Write letters to the newspaper. Write articles for the newspaper. Call the radio stations.
When the AR legislation hits your town or state, contact your legislators!!! Make sure everyone you know contacts their legislators. Build a contact list now and when the bills come to your area, start contacting everyone on it! When it's time for elections, know what the candidates represent. Know if they are pet friendly. If they have repeatedly supported AR anti-pet bills, if they have proven that they cannot be talked into better, pet-friendly legislations they need to be voted out of office. The AR groups are the minority. But they are the ones being heard. They are the ones with a voice. They come armed with false facts, fake figures, skewed statistics. And they win. They win because the pet owners are not speaking up!!! We can win this fight. But only if everyone gets involved!! My Dog Votes!!
