Nope, not at all. I have had this conversation with other rescuers in my area. We do not mind reputable breeders.
Not only do they breed for quality but they also search (As I have seen with Dalmatians) shelters to see if one of "their" dogs could be in the shelter. If they are (which I have seen it happen quite a few times now), the breeder takes the dog back and either finds it a home or the dog spends the rest of it's life with the breeder.
The national contact for dalmatian rescue is also a breeder herself. She only breeds once every 3 years, and spends most of her time rescuing dals.
So no I dont think it is in poor taste. Some rescues might have a problem with it, but I say if they do find another one.
Responsible breeders dont contribute to the problem and any rescuer with their head on straight realizes that.
