I read that sometimes "synthetic" or "fake" fur is actually cat or dog fur because these are cheap sources for fur. Not sure how true it is though.

A while back CNN did a story on this...they actaully showed a German Shepherd get skinned. It was awful, and to top off they said alot of "faux Fur" is actually dogs. I was sickened. Thats why I don't take any changes and don't buy anything with fur, even faux fur....

Oh I just read that link....Nordstrom and Macys even were with the bunch..That's discusting.

The only fur I spend any money on comes with muscle, bone, blood, and sloppy, slobbery wet kisses [sm=biggrin.gif]

The best way to stop this crap is to stop buying things resembling animals.  If it looks like animal, do not buy it.  Say how ugly you think it is to store sellers.  Even if they call it fake.  Why do we want to look like we are wearing animals, because it is called 'glamourous?    It is people's opinion and the thought needs direction  toward the fact that it is either an animal killed for or trying to emulate, "that beauty" The idea neads to change toward this;  ...it is a brutally ugly fashion, to wear clothing or have accessories which is a fake fur or leather.

Fact is you can't tell. So, if it looks like leather or fur, say NO Thanks.  And say it looks quite offensive to you.

There are wonderful synthetics today that keep you warm and do not emulate poor dead creatures.

Walmart has pocketbooks made in China out now, that say fake leather, but I do not trust them one bit.  It sickens me to see what has been done to some creatures to give a woman a cheap fashionable pocket book.

It is vanity and it is sinful.  Not something we need at all.

Oh Snownose, you know how to make me sick to my stomach.  Women and their NEEDS for luxury!

This was on the Today show this morning.  They'd showed some guy in China smacking the dog in the face because he was struggling with him.  I think I'm just gonna do my best to not buy anything from China.  I know in some cases it might be unavoidable but honestly that country completely disgusts me in every way.

And as much as I dislike the message, I thank you for making me wiser.

That could be taken quite offensively.

Although I know you're talking about the subject matter, it could seem like a pretty offensive comment to a chinese person.

I think that when we keep seeing repetive singled out news items we will paint with that broad brush once again.  It is human but it is also inaccurate.  We know that not every person in China abuses animals so.  It seems to be a certain sect that will be involved in such horrid things and then gain attention as if it were the entire country.

It is each person's fault in many countries, however, whom will continue to buy these products that either are or resemble animal skin and fur.  In particularly those whom are made aware and will continue to buy.  The news media needs to capture that portion as the essence of the story.

Once the cash flow stops to these cads, there will be a decrease in the abuse and hopefully a full stop of it.

Willow, that was very offensive...it's not like you have never seen American dog abuse stories, either.

And, at least one savvy talk show host here thinks that the Chinese are using all the money we send them to build up their military arsenal so that they will be the next military super power.  I hate buying any of their crap, because I still think of the little cat toys made with real cat fur - that was on the news a while back, too.  That shouldn't be any more offensive to the Chinese than it is for them to accuse us of various indecencies and limiting some of the goods that we want to export to them.
