Rabies prompts cull of 50,000 dogs...

I couldn't believe this article, but alas, it's true...

Imagine walking your dog and having this happen to you. Angry

    arent communist dictatorships grand?! (sarcasm)

i would be in tears, to say the least, if someone beat my dog to death in front of me. this is a very sad story. i feel sorry for the innocent people this is happening to.

I just saw that...couldn't read the entire article though. Absolutely vile and inhumane to say the least

They may be way up in technology but they obviously lack the feeling of compassion toward the creatures who share this earth with us.
(and I dont mean everyone just the people directly and indirectly responsible)

    That's sick...[:o]
    How could they allow that???[>:]

Ummm, we ARE talking about a country where the doctors will stick a syringe in the head of an infant as it crowns to kill it before it is born......

Same thing happens in our country, pretty much......

How's that?  Whether you agree with abortion or not (and I'm on the fence because I HATE the way it is used as birth control but support a womans right to choose), I'm talking about full term infants who are murdered BEFORE they are able to draw breath....literally on their way into the world.

To add fuel to the fire, China is a country where female babies will be killed AFTER they are born, as boys are better for the family's status.  Absolutely sick, IMO.

That's normally done by the family tho, or the baby girls are abandoned someplace.  DOCTORS will actually kill the fetus before it can come all the way out and draw breath if the woman giving birth has already had a child.  It's a sad situation either way.....so we shouldn't be terribly surprised that they are killing dogs.  Life doesn't seem to have much value there.

Not to go off topic, but I was reading that China is now seeing the effect that allowing girl babies to be killed is having on their population, and is now scrambling to get people to keep their girl children, by doing PSAs and giving families with girls money in front of news camaras.

I think we should all remember the souls of these pups in our prayers tonight, as well as the owners that had to see their dogs beaten to death.

Glenda - I was referring to partial birth abortion. But I really don't want to hijack this thread into a political discussion - please excuse my comment.

In any case...Lord those poor dogs.....I cannot imagine someone killing my own dog in front of me. I'm definitely going to stop buying as many things as I can that are made in China. Not the best "counterattack" but better than nothing....There must be some kind of petition or protest about this going on somewhere??
    • Gold Top Dog
I thought partial birth abortions had been banned?  Maybe I'm totally out of touch with the world?

If there IS a petition, I'd sure like to sign it, for all the good it will do...the poor dogs didn't even deserve a bullet?????  A quick and painless death?

I guess it never occurred to them at the time that if nobody was having girl babies, there wouldn't be anyone to have boy babies.

I am in no way trying to defend what happened... I think it's absolutely cruel and I probably wouldn't recover for *years* if not decades if it happened to me... but at the same time, let us remember that this is not an opportunity to condemn another country as a whole. The ever-increasing population (1 billion + at this time) *is* a very serious problem for them. I've seen the poverty first-hand, everywhere... Just because some parts of China are modernized and their GDP has increased (still less than 1/4 of US) doesn't mean they live in the same world that we do.
