    Training to Lead

We need your help. The time has come. The dogs are ready. The only thing missing is a forever home. Please allow us to introduce ourselves. We are “Training To Lead”. A project based learning opportunity at Stafford High School. The program teams non-traditional students with dogs from the Pratt Area Humane Shelter for a 26-week training program. The dogs are house and crate broken and trained to Certified Therapy Dog certification. All dogs are spayed or neutered, have all their shots and a current health certificate. We have four dogs ready to find their forever homes. You can also follow the dogs, students and their progress on Facebook at Training To Lead- https://www.facebook.com/StaffordTTL . If you need additional information regarding the dogs or program please feel free to contact me. Regarding the cost: a donation is appreciated and goes toward the support of the program. However, the program was developed with the understanding that many individuals that can benefit from a therapy dog may have limited finances. The objective of the program is to help non-traditional students and rescue dogs develop the skills that enhance their lives. Our goal is to provide a win/win situation for everyone involved. Thanks Mike

Hi that sounds really great. Can you post some pics of your work so far?

One of the programs objectives is to a provide solid relationship between students and dogs, eventually developing a team. For some of our teams this may be one of the few positive relationships they have ever experienced. The data collected so far supports the evidence that the program provides a positive influence for the dog and student. We hope this pilot program encourages other school districts to incorporate this type of program into their school.
