STOLEN German Shepherd (IL/IA)

"Hex" was stolen earlier this week. See the flyer for details. Hex has competed at the national level and was an FH national champion.

I saw this on MSN...how sad. The really bad thing about that is, what is the stealer going to do with him? If he brings him in public, somebody is bound to notice him.

Why are people like this? It disgusts me...

I hope Hex finds his way home soon. I bet his daddy is worried sick Crying

Hex's body was found this morning. Necropsy pending...

I was thinking when I first saw this, that at least whoever stole him, wanted him and would care for him, you know?. This is just terrible. Where was he found?

He was found by the owner's house. There's a lot of speculation going on but I'm not going to bother with it. I'll wait for the results of the necropsy...

Oh my goodness.

I can only pray that he passed without suffering. But somehow I get goosebumps when something just doesn't seem right.

RIP in big guy. You'll be missed by many, I'm sure. Thinking of his family.

I'm sorry to report that this seems to be going from bad to worse. The prelim necropsy results state that Hex was beaten all over, 12 broken bones, and crushed skull. The beating was postmortem but still....

Like I said I'm staying out of the speculation. Many people are insisting this has to do with Schutzhund, like someone went all Tonya Harding. Maybe...but I just can't see that. I was not aware that Al had enemies in the sport and always figured him to be a knowledgeable guy ready to help out (I do not know him personally but he has shared advice on a GSD forum). He is know for his tracking skill and gives seminars on tracking. Hex was an FH champion but as far as Schutzhund competition goes he would not have been a favorite to win nationals or any high level competitions. I'm not saying he's a bad dog, I just don't want people outside of this circle to think that this is how Schutzhund competitors treat each other. Not everyone always gets along but the dogs never get stuck in the middle.

I had read about the case when he was missing and found the ending so sad :(

I don't know details of how the body was found, etc, but would the broken bones have come from someone tossing his body from a vehicle into the ditch, I wonder?

I hope his passing was peaceful and that whoever is responsible is found. Tragic :(
