Thanks for moving this -- I thot advocacy WAS the rescue section!
A friend of mine in NC who does a lot of rescue and pet therapy work is in a really difficult situation. I think they can't be released to foster care til next Tuesday but then the need will be immediate and dire because the elderly dogs in this won't be given any chance at all.
I posted in Spiritual Circle and I'm putting the dogs' descriptions here. Because this is of a pretty sensitive nature I really can NOT post about this on a public forum (it involves some really nasty stuff). But the dogs involved are all shapes and sizes and it's a county-animal control type place where they are being held so once their week is up and this hearing takes place they won't get much of a shot. Please email me (not a pm -- I just can't monitor that while I'm at work). use the
callieatcritturs at yahoo dot com
(no spaces and use the punctuation please?) address. This is what I got from her this morning. I've starred the ones I think she uses for pet therapy -- the others aren't aggressive or anything, she just hasn't had them long enough to get them trained)
here is the rundown on the older dogs:
Max, 12 yo male border collie mix*
Scotty, 11 yo male St. Bernard mix*
Jody, 12 yo female shep mix
Susie, 7 yo female feist*
Alfred, 12 yo male feist/chi
Winston, elderly male teacup chi
Festus, 7 yo male bluetick coonhound
Pearl, 11 yo female yellow lab
A few sweethearts who are HIGHLY adoptable, but may not stand a chance with Burke
County Friends for Animals:
Harry, 2 yo Australian shep mix housetrained, darling
Charlie, 5 yo golden retreiver mix
