RHODE ISLAND Rabies Law--Move to Change to 3 Year

Yes, we need that, too. When is Willow due on the 3 year schedule? Frisby has over a year (phew!), but I know other dogs need this change now! I'm going to email the Board and the chief vet.

Willow was due last year.  But, her vet said, let's extend her one more year--not official as far as the law.  So, she's due for rabies this year.  It's been three years in June.  I need the waiver because she's not getting a rabies shot.

Yup--and they can send the bloodwork out for the titer. I think it's Kansas State that does it, but I could be wrong...somewhere in Kansas!

New R.I. Rabies Regulations Close to Approval, Providence Journal 2/21/10 http://www.projo.com/health/content/rabies_vaccinations_02-21-10_QVHH1UG_v13.36f414d.html

"New rules, expected to go into effect about March 16, change the mandatory vaccination period from two to three years.

In the meantime, the state veterinarian, Dr. Scott Marshall, has created a transitional policy so that pets now protected aren’t reimmunized unnecessarily just because the old regulations have not yet expired. "
