Me too - -this is the first I've seen this.  *sigh*  Isn't that just the way -- mix it in with a bill prohibiting sex with animals (errrr ... really, it's not illegal already?) and everyone jumps to vote it in.  *sigh*

It isn't a separate statute.  That sort of activity falls under general animal abuse.  Why we needed a separate law I don't get either, didn't think that was a common practice.

On the lighter side though, say the law passed and your neighbors dog started humping your leg.  Would you get hauled off to jail or would the dog be put on the states sex offenders list as a habitual humper.

I haven't heard of too many cases of sexual animal abuse here. We had one, but it was a few years ago. I wasn't heavily involved with the shelter work as I am now, so I'm not sure what all happened. I do know that the dog that was abused.....propelled herself out of her new owners bedroom one night.... that stuff really messes with a dogs mindset. Not right by any means.

I also feel that making it a seperate statue will just encourage more people to do it....*sigh*

There was one other I heard of back in 1990 but I really shouldn't go into the specifics since this is a family forum.  PM me if you want to know what was going on.
