What should be the punishment for people involved in dog fighting?

If those emotions are not present, as they clearly are not for the swine who participate in dog fighting, then something is seriously wrong with the health of the individual's psyche.

See that is you cultural point of view.  Ask someone from Spain about bullfighting and you might get a completely different point of view.

Ask a Hindu about a person eating meat and they might think that most people in this country are sick depraived individuals.  Look how some of the veggi types view us meat eaters.

I don't think so. Because, for many people who abhor dog fighting around the world, in very different cultures, there is no religious or cultural base, just a gut reaction (emotional in my opinion) that there is something wrong with that kind of violence. Just because fighting roosters is prevalent in some cultures, doesn't mean everyone in that society thinks it's OK.

Emotions, emotional response, or lack there of is how is part of how mental health is evaluated around the globe.

Hmmm....I am a little confused as to your arguement now.

So....dog fighters do not have the "normal gut-reaction" emotion to dog-fighting. Therefore, as you say about people who have no emotional issues in connection to animal bloodsports, they are emotionally/mentally unhealthy and/or damaged. But didn't we just say that they were fully in their right mind and CHOSE to do this? I'm not rebutting your arguement, just trying to figure out what it is.

I'm really sorry I started this topic....guys, we are all here for the same reasons, we love our animals.  Gina You are right about the education thing. I am going to call a friend at the humane society monday and see if we can't start something around here like that because dog fighting is very previlant in this town and you are right about educating the children.  Maybe we can start some classes at the local schools and teach the children how wrong this stuff really is...that is hard though because not all people adult or child value life and I think that this is the whole problem, everyone has  not taught their children to value a life ....any life, weather it is human or animal.
