Interesting sidenote to the Vick thing-HSUS

Maybe they mean with regard to animals like cows, chickens, pigs, fish, etc? By the way, insects are included as animals, right?

I get their news letter and they are always begging for donations!I actually always wondered where they went to.I've never given any though! So do they actually take the money for their salary? I don't know if I could takes peoples money that was meant for a good cause.I'd fell insanely guilty!

Their newsletters, calendars, coffee mugs, mailing labels are a good example of how your donation money is spent...

Some does surely go to their various programs. No arguements there.
But, their prez makes $300K per annum....that money must come from someplace.

I won't post the link to a breakdown of their financials as I'd again get accused of having it in for them. But Googling HSUS and budget or finacial statements etc can yield some info. They did have a "needs improvement" rating with Charity Navigator but I think they've improved it now?

Thanks!I feel better now knowing that even though I don't donate I'm not "killing" animals.I find it quite sad that when ever  a company grows they almost always start thinking more and more about money!Of coures that is the purpose of a buisness to make money, but then the products quality always seems to lower.

Animal welfare is something I will always stand behind. It actually makes sense. Animal rights does not. According to AR activists, I cannot have honey, because bee keepers are bee murderers. (Really? Because I have yet to see a bee keeper without any bees!!!)

Well, the idiots know that, to get in and out of the hive, you must take the cover off.  When you put it back on, some bees invariably get crushed, since there are upwards of 80,000 of them in some hives.  Do the jerks really think that a bear swiping a paw at a hive to get the goodies never squooshes a bee?  Maybe they will next want to put the bears behind bars for treading on the bees' rights.  This gets more loonie every time I think about it.
There is a difference between well intentioned animal welfare advocates, and people who will go to any length to force their agenda onto everyone.  It's one thing to hold a sign outside the abortion clinic - it's quite another to go murder the doctor that's doing the abortions.  That's murder, and these so called activists are perpetrating domestic terrorism when they act outside the law.
