Here's the online petition to stop the slaughter.  It went around my chow forum a few weeks ago.

My SO and I were talking about this last week. He is from India and years ago the government wanted to treat all dogs for rabies. What they did was provide all people with pets the rabies meds in pill form. Then police and volunteers went around and fed stray dogs the pills enclosed in food. I know you cannot get all of the strays but atleast the effort was make to use a humane attempt to protect the dogs from illness.
This sort of thing is an outrage. The people that can stand there and club a dog to death are heartless SOBs.
If I was ever to see this sort of thing, well, lets just say "Helter Skelter"

The baby girls are abandoned someplace all right - right here in the good old USA.  Personally, I don't think we should take their human refuse, or their goods, until they make rabies vaccinations the law, and stop killing dogs and kids.

The other day I went to PETA's website because I was curious what they would say about greyhound racing (of course PETA is against just about everything including pet ownership, but I figured I would see). They had this story on their front page and the pictures made me cry. I couldn't even look at all of them. I understand that China is not America and that they have their own problems, but that isn't an excuse to walk around clubbing animals in the street like cavepeople. And of course murdering a baby as it is born with no regard to how the mother might feel about her child is very different from a woman deciding that she isn't prepared to give a child a proper life and choosing to end the pregnancy. There are already enough unwanted and uncared for babies sitting around in every countries. But of course what can we expect from some people. Even here in America most people think of animal people like us as being crazy. I can't count how many times people have critizised me for treating my animals like kids.

It must be depressing to live in a place where this is happening.  I am speechless.
