    Ranting about stupid dog owners

A couple of hours ago I gave Blue a hour walk around town. Well I'm going down one block next thing I know I have some pit bull mix come out of no where running as fast as it can at us. Thankfully Blue was next to me and I sandwich Blue between this dog. The darn dog is moving around snarling and trying to get around me. As I'm trying to back away from this dog next thing I know I'm hearing a dog barking, snapping, and growling at my side. Here it was another pit bull mix thankfully it was on a chain. The bad news is the dog is chained to a dog house with a 6 ft chain and is only a foot or two away from the sidewalk which is where I'm at. Finally trying to watch both dogs the stupid owner comes out and calls his dog back to him and he doesn't say a darn thing to me just walks back in the house with his beer can in hand.

If your going to have dogs that act like that to dogs or people make sure that the darn dog house is far away fromt the sidewalk and have both animals confined not have one loose. I was going to say something at him, but I wanted to get the heck away from those dogs. Then two houses down here is a 3 ft of fence and another dog close enough to the fence trying to get at Blue and I just snaping at our direction. the fence is tiny it come a few inches under my waist and I'm 5' 7 plus you can see right through the darn wood fence it's not really that much protection.

[sm=soap%20box.gif]Lets just say I'm not going down that street again. These are the kind of people that give pit bulls bad names.

I was scared out of mind! It was hard enough trying to keep the one unleashed dog away from Blue and then when trying to back away from the dog then have another one on your other side to worry about.

I already been though my cousin's boxer attacking Blue thankfully no injuries, but to go through another close call. If they got any closer I was going to pick up Blue and carry him.

Scary stuff.  Glad you made it thru unscathed and doggy intact.  Honestly, what would you have done if the dog had indeed attacked??  I am not sure what I would have done esp against a pitbull.  Jules

I know how you feel. They not only give the breed a bad rep, they give humans a bad name. They only reason I haven't seen a pit bull running loose in my town is because I don't there are any in town to be allowed to run loose. A friend of mine has  boxer but she is obedient him, off or on leash.

we have an idiot dog owner up the street from us with a rottie mix. The dog has a bite history and why the dog is still there I cannot understand. This dog has bitten several people and there have been several complaints on  him, yet now and then he's out running around loose.
When he's not free his owner has him tied with a long bungee cord!!!!
The dog charges nearly into the road to go after whomever/whatever happens to be walking by.
My DH was walking one day and the dog came up behind him growling quietly and trying to sneak up. Paul turned around, looked and the dog, stood up tall and quietly said "bite me and it's the last thing you'll ever do" the dog slunk home LOL

Glad nothing bad happened to you or Blue because it sounds like that was very very possible! What a jerk... I know you must have wanted to say something, but it wouldnt have mattered I bet, and I wouldve just wanted to get the heck away from it all like you did.  I agree...

Stupid human and dog owner of the month.

I'm sorry--we are not all like that, I promise!!! Sally is more supervised than most people's children. Next time that happens please call AC. I'd rather see the dogs get taken away than hurt someone's dog and give yet more bad marks against bullies.

Loose dogs are a pet peeve of mine. There are several places in my neighborhood that I can't walk because of a not-nice-in-the-least hound mix, a rotweiler who is somehow contained within a chainlink fence by day but is apparently "bat-dog" by night, and a pair of shepard mixes that have previously scared the crap out of Sally.

I'd like to add that while Direct Stop is good for most situations, I think I'd have pepper spray around in the case of these two dogs. And use it on the owner, too.....(not really but boy it's tempting!)[:@]
