    Mindless Chatter Wed

yay, we made it through half the week!

I have a fun meeting this morning with the state police for work. Hopefully it will go well.

I practiced leave it with the dogs last night with a pheasant wing. A friend at work gave me a couple wings (her husband and dog do bird hunting) so that I can start to proof lily off of animal remains. The dogs did great even though it wasn't a huge challenge considering I was standing right there ;p Abbie wouldn't even look at the wings though

I have to wonder what Kord would do with a pheasant wing.

Just incredibly busy here. Deb, you take care of the sinus infection.

    Glenda, I love your sig.

    Ok, must work.....

    • Gold Top Dog

So, Julie, how wet were the dogs when you got home last night?

Deb, how's the sinus infection today?  The antibiotics working yet?

Amanda, glad you took my advice and went home early!  At least someone listens to me once in a while...LOL

Glenda, do you have any more updates on Jen?

Please send some "feel better" and/or "get help" thoughts for my son Jake.  He has bi-polar disorder and is in a depressed phase, which is aggravated by his refusal to take his meds correctly.  He's trying to self-medicate (alcohol, illegal drugs) and it's not working.  I'm worried...

Tina - sending good thoughts and get help vibes out to your son!

Definitely glad it is Wednesday and looking forward to this weekend.  I have a major presentation this morning and just don't feel up to it...probably because I am going to tell exec. that their idea isn't going to work and they have to head back to the drawing board.  Not good.

We are leaving for vacation in a couple of weeks so I have to start thinking about lists, packing, etc.  Talked to the doc office and they are out of flu shots already, sigh.  We really wanted to get one before we go to Mexico, but definitely not a show stopper.  Riley got her 1st injection so at least she is covered (she's not coming with us).  None of us fall into the high risk category for the H1N1 shot so we aren't getting those when they are released so I don't have to worry about that.

Instead of sending Charlie to "camp" while we are gone my sister is going to watch him at our house.  She's been out of work and could really use the $$.  I am a little nervous because we have never left him with a person before, just at "camp".  My sister is totally competent and Charlie is very low maintenance, I just worry that something will happen and DH will flip out.  I know he would much prefer to stay at the house with her - so less stress on him - but more on me.  Oh well.

Spoke with the school district this week about Riley.  They don't have any birth to 3 year old programs - just play groups that cost $300 a month!!!  WTH!!  I am thinking about putting something up on Craigs List looking for parents like us and forming a play group but I am a little nervous about weirdos.  Swimming class went well last night - she must have said "I did it" a dozen times when we were playing games.  She just loves the water and doesn't mind going under at all.  I am signing her up for the 2nd session today that will run until the end of the year.  I just wish there were some kids more her age, most are around 1 years old.

Can anyone tell me how to make this child quit sucking her thumb?!! It wasnt such a big problem in the beginning but now her once perfect straight teeth are showing the affects of thumb sucking. Crying

I can not wait till Saturday. Going to hang out with some friends and leave JJ home with Samantha. I done wrote a list for the care of the dogs while Im gone. And I've been driving JJ nuts reminding him who to keep leashed and how to properly lock doors and latch crate doors. I do not want any dogs missing when I get home!!

Ok I gotta go. Gotta visit the eye doctor and get some new contacts. I miss contacts. Wont miss glasses!

Absolutely prayers for your son, Tina.

I got an email from Jen this morning and she wanted me to thank everyone for the prayers and the thoughtful cards.  She is improving each day thankfully.

Julie, your timing in asking for a Corky update was pretty incredible.  CORKY LAID AN EGG LAST EVENING!!!!!!  Holy cow....that was one BIG egg too!  I actually went and checked the fridge to see if someone had taken a chicken egg and put in there to pull my leg.  It looked like a chicken egg, only at least an extra large one.  And, it broke, so I saw the yolk, which was yellow, and I thought that someone said duck yolks were not.  Guess I should do some research and see how often she's going to do this.  My poor little duck having to push out something that enormous!

I feel strangely hung over today  . . . . . must have been all that hand sanitizer I drank last night.

Actually, I do feel a little better since getting on the meds.  My head is only slightly pounding, not the full on slamming it was doing yesterday.

Good vibes going out for you son, Tina.  Must be very taxing on you, having to deal with all this.

Tina, good vibes for your son.  Hugs for you Tina.

Deb, that hand sanitizer tastes nasty, doesn't it?  A touch of orange juice really helps it go down better, er, I mean cleans your hands better. lol  Glad your sinus headache isn't pounding as bad this morning.  That's a horrible pain that leaves you wanting to cut your head off to make it stop.

We had such a good time yesterday evening on our walk. The creek had a little water running from the recent rains and the dogs were acting like lunatics playing and splashing.  They've forgotten what water is like, it's been so long since we had any in this creek. lol  The dogs got so incredibly muddy it was almost funny.  The cleanup wasn't quite as amusing.

Julie, I'm glad that "leave it" with the pheasant wing went so well.

Dawn, are you feeling better?  I know that you were a little under the weather last week.

Tina, I'm sending all kinds of good vibes to Jake.

Lisa, I am sure that Charlie will be fine.  I know that I am always worried & anxious when we leave our dogs with someone else too.

Kim, I have no clue how to get Samantha to stop sucking her thumb short of just constantly reminding her not to suck it.

Glenda, I'm glad that Jen is improving.

I woke up this morning feeling very cramped & crowded.  Upon closer inspection, I found the reasons why...DS#2 had snuck into bed with us sometime overnight.  Of course wherever he goes, Brinxx follows.  I am guessing that Brinxx being in our bed made Shooter, Schatzi, & Angel jealous, so they felt the urge to come up as well.  This is all in addition to Bevo, & Bru who already sleep with us.  If this happens very often our king sized bed is going to be too small to accomodate everyone.

I have to talk to MIL again today about Thanksgiving.  I have a friend who is already planning on spending Thanksgiving with us.  She has no family, & few friends, so I refuse to leave her alone for the holidays.  If MIL doesn't mind her coming along, then I think we are going to take a road trip to Vermont.

I know . . . . yesterday I was seriously considering shaving half my head, because even the weight of my hair on my face was killing me !!!

I asked my doc about something similar because sucks her fingers.  He basically said that 50% will be from peer pressure...the other times, tell her that she can only suck her thumb in bed.  So everytime she wants to suck, she has to lay down in bed.  It might not eleviate the night time sucking but you may be able to cut down the time during the day.  With Riley she sucks whenever she has her blanket, so blankie stays in her room.  If she wants to suck, in her room she goes.  Its helped a lot.

You should consider my idea, it would no doubt make the trip quieter, at least! Stick out tongue

Amanda, I'm laughing at your crowded bed.

Tina, best wishes for your son.

Lisa, Charlie will probably miss you less than you will miss him. Stick out tongue "New" people are always fun! I'm sure he will be great!

Glenda, I'm so glad Jen is doing better. Weird that Corky laid you an egg yesterday! I wonder if duck eggs are tasty?

As for me, I'm asking professors for recommendation letters for grad school, and nobody is getting back to me... I know they're willing to write the letters, since they've already said so in the past, it just seems that once the time actually comes to produce something they're too busy to respond to my formal inquiries. Soooooo frustrating, especially since all of them are far away, so I can't easily visit them and harass them in person. If I don't hear back from one of them soon, I might plan a "coincidental vacation" and go see if I can find him in person, on campus. Of course, if he weren't around, that would be a wasted 4 hours of driving, so... sigh. I hate being confrontational in situations like this, but I really can't just sit around and wait to hear one way or another.

Can you write the letters yourself and then just send them to the profs for a signature??

     Hahaha, I've definitely considered it!

Right now all I want is a definite "yes I will" or "no I won't" or even a "let's talk about it." As soon as they say "yes" I will continue to flood them with material to make it easy and fast. I just want some kind of an answer!

It's not like I'm the first person to ever ask for a grad school recommendation... and 2 of the 3 I'm asking volunteered to write a rec letter a while ago, before I'd even asked... you wouldn't think responding to such inquiries would be such a big deal! Confused

    Time for some telephone reminders....
