Apparently my time frames were off. It was actually closer to 6 months that Zia has been gone.
Now comes the fun part of reintroducing her to the pack. Eclipse remembers her and was happy to see her, but when Jen brought her to meet the other 6, it was a big overwhelming. She's been alone for too long, I guess. So right now, she's inside sniffing crates and blankets, and getting comfy with the pack's smells again. The other dogs are outside waiting. Then Zia will go into a crate and Jen will bring a dog in to get to know her again that way. One at a time I guess.
She is very glad to have found Zia when she did. She's pretty sure Zia was never allowed in the house where she was being kept. She had to reteach her how to go down stairs. ***shakes head sadly*** Zia already has arthritis in one foot, and had shoulder surgery a while ago, so that will likely be bothering her come winter now, especialy with all the extra weight she's been carrying around. She's a 60ish pound dog normally, and has been carrying around, Jen figures about 15 extra pounds at least. Sigh...the people figured she'd been abused and starved when they found her. Go figure. So, her teeth are a mess, but hopefully nothing actually decayed and that will clear up with a few good RBM's and a rec bone or two. Her nails are seemingly not bad.
They thought she had been hit by a car or something because of the way she walks. Zia is one of the very slopey backed Hitler dogs, and walks like she's ready to spring at people all the time. I think of her walk as slinking. But, while at times she looks clumsy, she doesn't limp, unless her foot is bothering her.
Oh, and get this. They were calling her Angel, cause the "Angels" brought her. Blargh, Angels don't bring dogs to new homes, when they are already loved and cared for in another home. Especially not to homes where they have to live outside all alone.
