You might want to try flying into T. F. Green in RI... unless the distance is a problem. It is right off Rt. 95, almost main line to Boston.

Anybody know of a good "last minute" deal website for flights? DH is laid off next week, and I really want to go visit my sister for 4-5 days in Boston. I've looked on all the regular sites (orbitz, travelocity, expedia, etc.) and they all are around $500. Indifferent I found one site that said they had last minute deals, but the departure cities were limited.

Since I did not know where you were flying out of here is this:

    http://www.bing.com/travel/flight/flightSearch?tvl_t=r&vo1=Milwaukee%2C+WI+%28MKE%29+-+General+Mitchell+Airport&o=MKE&ve1=Boston%2C+MA+%28BOS%29+-+Logan+International+Airport&e=BOS&d1=09%2F27%2F2009&r1=10%2F04%2F2009&p=1&b=COACH&baf=true

Much much cheaper if you leave and come back on sundays.

I'm hoping to fly out of Rhinelander (RHI) or possibly Central Wisconsin Airport (CWA). Milwaukee is about 4 hours away.

DH doesn't think I have the courage to leave Willa for that long. Big Smile

Did you look at Delta...it looks like they may have one for closer to $300 but they would be super early in the morning.

Edit: I saw that when I was looking on the BING sight she posted above.

Just a Jen update.  I updated her thread in the Spiritual Circle.....

Sis called and Jen had her surgery today at 1.  The doc had to remove the entire toe nail, debreed the area and then inserted two tubes to drain the massive infection.  Because she is in such fragile condition, he sent her home, fearing that hospitalization would be unsafe for her.  So, she is home, and hopefully beginning to heal and get back on the road to health.  This should NOT have happened.  Too many mistakes, by too many people.

I am stuck on the phone with a client.  I am sure that it would be rude of me to tell them to get to the point because I'm ready to go home.  >>>Tapping fingers<<< "Hurry up, hurry up, hurry up...."

I could really use a drink...or several.  This has been such an anxious day for me.

Amanda, does this person not KNOW when quitting time is??

    • Gold Top Dog

    Amanda, two questions:

1, do you have a cellphone with you?

and 2. does your phone make little ringing noises when someone calls and you are on the line?

If so, phone your office line with your cellphone, and say, oh no, i'm so sorry, but i have to take this!

:D  one thing i do if i am home and on th ephone and need to get off, i ring the door bell lol

When I am not typing, my arm is being tossed around and nibbled on by a certain little black dog that wants me to pet her.  I'm doing my best to ignore her, but its kinda funny.

Glenda, I hope your niece recovers fully really soon.  That kinda thing really sucks.

I'm choked about my niece.  She didn't make her hockey team and no one knows why.  The videos of the tryouts show her outskating everyone in time trials, and she was always one of the first to score in shootouts, and in the top three for stick handling drills.  Trouble is,(we think) almost everyone else on the team belong to a national olympic team, Canada, US, Finland and Sweden I think, and so are completely funded by their teams to play for UMD.  The thing that bugs me the most, is that UMD fought to get Megan to go there.  She was offered 3 full ride scholarships where she would have been starting line on any of their hockey teams, but because UMD is the best team she went there, assuming because the team itself fought to get her there, that she would at least make the team, even if it meant playing 4th line.   So now she's pretty much benched for a whole season.  She's gonna play Club hockey for UMD I guess, but its not the same league, and she won't play with people that will help her improve.  Oh the one thing the coach said, that I agree with, is that Megan hasn't had good coaching.  Ok I get that, but what the heck does that mean for her?  She can't move up cause she's had to fight her ass off to get where she is, cause her coaches haven't done a single thing for her?

Ok, I needed to vent about that.  I found out on Monday, and I'm totally heartbroken for her.  I know she must be crushed.  If she came and told me tomorrow that she was bored with hockey and never wanted to play again, I'd be fine with that, but to have a coach fight to get you to go to their team, only to say, once you've committed, oops sorry, you can't play, our roster is already full...Ya, I'm Auntie Grizzly....

I have done something very, very bad to my big toe at the ball of my foot - if it is like this in the morning its the ER for me. It is huge, it is extremely painful and as soon as i take the ice off it screams at me.

of course it will have to wait until after my mammogram - Have I ever mentioned that getting old stinks?

Candace, that stinks about your niece.  Karen, your toe sounds terrible!  Sending "toe get better" vibes your way.  Rex sends toe kisses, gentle ones.

It's a wet, sloppy mess in our backyard but the rain is so welcome I refuse to complain about the constant cleaning of muddy dog paws. lol

oh Rex thank you Bugsy has retired for the evening LOL

Jackie when we have had tons of rain and accompanying mud I stick B's feet in an old dog bowl and wipe them.  Much easier than trying to get plain mud off imho

The store that I get the dogs' Orijen from just started stocking the new Regional Red variety!  WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

    • Gold Top Dog

Karen, I hope that the toe is substantially better in the morning.

Candace, tell your niece to hang in there.  Here, freshmen are generally redshirted to give them a year of getting used to college life, along with giving them a year to mature a little more.  I'm not saying that it's right, but it does happen very frequently.

Oh my heavens!  Have been trying to reach the first DS all day to update him on his cousin Jen.  He FINALLY called me a few minutes ago....from the hospital where DIL was admitted to ICU because of her asthma on Tuesday.

    When it rains it pours.....
