Pet Expo 2009!!

Today wraps up the second and final day of the first Annual Pet Expo 2009 held by the only Humane Society in our province. It was a huge event, with booths set up for vendors, a large demonstration area for things like agility, flyball, disc dog, and horse/pony shows, and a seminar section where half-hour seminars were put on for the full 6 hours each day. It was amazing. There were vets, trainers, cat shows, exotic animals, Greyhound rescue, Cat Action (a cat spay/neuter program).....you name it, they were there.

I was an all-purpose volunteer, there for the whole weekend. I did the majoirity of the photography. Gaci and I were part of the agility demonstration (Gaci's debut in a huge crowd setting!!). I assisted in the large demonstration area where needed, did meet n' greets with different dogs, etc. It was so much fun. I don't know the final numbers yet, but I'm thinking the final count for people coming through was 1500 - 2000. I'm so amazed at how well it went, everything went without a hitch and everyone I spoke with in the crowds just loved it.

Zipper came with me for the whole day today, he had such a blast. Meeting and greeting all the kids and adults alike, playing with all the dogs (and teaching the pups a few lessons!!), he met some of the exotic animals and generally was just a good helper. We even ran into an older couple who are the parents of one of his daughters, so we of course had to go out and let them meet again and have a little fun time. Everyone just loved him!!

I'll post lots of photos in the Photos section later on, once we get all settled in and relaxed!!

It's going to be held every two years, and I look forward to taking part in the next one too!!
